My parents fall into this. They live paycheck to paycheck with no real saveings to speak of. But they are never without money. They have never paid a late bill and have all the toys. This drives me mom crazy but my Dad is just a big kid.

I think regardless of income, there will always be people who say they can't afford to pay their bills.Large income, small income. Sometimes, considering choices made with money, it's hard to feel sorry for either.

You have to live your means or you end up HERE ready to not only shake your pompoms everytime someone makes an additional payment on their CCDebt but also you expect them to do the same for you!

We all had to learn but at least we DID learn and are here fixing the problem...

The first step is admitting you have a problem.
The second step is finding out just HOW BIG of a problem you have.
The third step is coming to after you pass out......

    Then the WORK starts...

Oh and by the way I made ANOTHER additional credit card payment today~~grab your pom poms girls~!
The math never lies, budget in INK!

Amount of Free items 2012 $391.33

    Debt #2 12/31/12 CC $901.88
    Debt #3 12/31/12 $3648.83

Madness, mayhem chaos...my work here is done!

I just think that people need to stop and think that they dont need the expensive toys and high priced houses and cars just because they bring in that much. It's a shame because I would honestly say that if we made that much I would sure as heck have ALOT of money saved up, AND even though we dont fall into that or shoot 1/4 of that, make it 1/8 of that, I can and do wind up putting some money aside to savings and we only make less than $30,000 a year.

It goes to show that what you set your mind to, regardless of how much we make, we CAN live below our means and be happy.

    Default I have heard

that if you can't manage a small amount of money it's only worse when you have more. I know a millionaire that has had his power turned off several times from not being able to pay his electricity at his huge mansion. sounds silly, huh?

Sounds like my inlaws. They make double what DH and I do, but have half the expenses, their mortgage is half of ours, they have no children at home, etc. BUT they spend spend spend! THey are thousands and thousands of dollars in credit card debt, have refinanced their home and taken out so many loans they owe way more than what their house is worth. They went to Hawaii one year and didn't pay their mortgage for 3 months and almost got their house foreclosed on. They can't pay their phone bills, so after a while, they just get service with someone else. They don't have any retirement, either. DH is a junior, so bill collectors call us looking for his dad sometimes. Oh, and he (father in law) just bought a Harley! Sheesh.

DH and I are only 31 and have been planning and saving for retirement since we were in our early 20s. I can't imagine being his parents age (late 50s) and having nothing.

I think when people make that kind of salary (not all of course), they get in the mindset that they have to show the world how much they make by having the big houses and big toys. One theory holds true with some people...the more you make, the more you spend. Thank God we learned our lesson early on, I do not want to be in my 50's stressing over mortgage payments and praying the appliances all hold up.....as I have done enough of that already lol.

Just goes to show it's not how much you make, but how much you keep.

    Bring on them baby steps...
    Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
    Step 5: grown child
    Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
    Step 7: ahhhh....

I know people who make more than twice what we make and they are always poor mouthing about having no money until the next paycheck. Well, you're living high on the hog and that's why you don't have money.

You know what I love? Knowing that I can live on just over $20,000 a year, and that when I make more, I'll be able to save a good deal of it.

If I made $250,000 a year, I'd be a millionaire, because $50,000 would be PLENTY for me to live on, and I'd just save the rest.

To be quite honest, I cannot imagine that kind of income. I will never see that kind of income in my life. I will be happy as can be just when my cc's and school loan, and car are paid for.

My ex husband was like this. Made big money and spent big money. It's one of the (man) reasons our marriage failed, his addiction to the expensive toys and putting his wants before family needs
