    Default A minor setback

I was grocery shopping yesterday, and forgot to put my debit card in my purse. I got there, and only had $20. I had to get certain things, so the bill came to $24 and change, and I had to put it on my credit card. I was so mad at myself! I immediately went online this morning and paid $40 on my charge card, and will pay more later in the month, but it ticked me off.

I'm so close to paying that card off! I just want to see $0 on my statement!

well, at least you paid extra on the CC this morning. WTG! Stick it to em. Way to use that anger and make your debts pay! I'd consider that a step forward.

At least you paid off what you charged so it didn't run up your card.

I agree, it's really great you paid extra on your CC. Don't worry too much about it.

If I go over what cash I brought, I pay with the cash I have and then put the difference on my debit card. You could have just put the $4 on your cc. good job paying extra as soon as you got home!

Atleast you paid more on the CC than you spent, that's a plus

Yeah, I thought about using the $20 and only putting $4 on the credit card, but I would have had to get cash out later in the week anyway, so I decided just to hold onto it, and since I was going to use the debit card anyway, just pay it immediately.

I paid the $24, actually $25 plus the $15 minimum payment. I'll pay more later this month.

I'm still a month behind on the water and electric, but I'm paying extra each month, and soon enough, I'll be caught up. My water bill went down 10 dollars this month, so I can put that toward the back balance.

I figure by next year, I'll be all caught up...hopefully. It's gonna be a tight Christmas this year, though. I think I'm only going to give to my mom (if the Lord lets her make it until then) and my sons, and not over $20 each. My mom is hard, because I have to mail the stuff to her (she lives in a very isolated place...no stores). My kids I can send gift cards to. They love that.

I think I would put one or two articles back so that I would have enough cash to pay for the groceries.

how is it a setback? If you were able to replace the amount immediately on the card, then I don't see what the problem is (I might ask, though, why you're carrying the card around if you're not intending to use it ;).

I carry it because I drive such an old car, and I never know when I'm going to need it for a car repair or towing. I keep it in a separate place from my other cards, in a zipped compartment, so I won't be tempted.

You know, at your moms age I bet more than anything a truly touching letter of memories would be a wonderful thing for Christmas. When you were a child did she knit, sew? Could you replicate something she's made for you? Slippers etc?

So often the older don't want things, they want memories. I know my mom would prefer something to make her smile and remember and warm her heart rather than more to dust.

and honestly if I were your child, from reading your posts on here, I'd just love communication for the holidays, a letter reminding me of the good times would bring more smiles than anything else.

^ I admire your ability to only use it for true emergencies. I tried that and I don't have the willpower.
