one step backward but....
several steps forward!!!!
We just got back from our holiday and had a fantastic time, managed to stay within budget too.
Just before we went away we had put the car into the garage as the exhaust had fallen off and it was not looking good. The car is fixed now and is running well but we really didnt need the big bill of 650 Euro from the garage.
well this is where itr gets really good..
when we got home there was a letter from an old friend of my nanas, my nana passed many years ago but we have always kept in contact with her friend. anyway her husband died at the beginning of the year and left her extremely well provided for - so much so she decided to send out a few cheques to me, my brother and others with a beautiful letter about how much she has enjoyed us over the years ( she had no kids of her own) and rather than wait until she passes on she wanted us to have some money now..
Enclosed was a cheque for 5000!!!!
I was speechless, so I paid off another bill and stuck the rest into the EF, leaving a little bit aside for *fun* and a new fridge as our old one kept freezing everything
Its so nice to know we have paid off some more towards debt and have a good EF if we ever need it!!

Wow! What a wonderful random act of kindness!
“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

What a nice lady, probably made her happy to give the $$ as well. Enjoy!

Welcome back! WOW, what a blessing to share some of her inheritance with you! I like her thinking of doing it while she is still alive. Then she gets to see the good that her gift is doing. What a great friend.
