Default Am I the only who does this...

I keep going over and tweaking my monthly budget lately. I have an excel sheet that I have been adjusting, then printing it out and going over it at lunch time or just while sitting watching TV with a pencil....aggghhh!!

I think it is because I am very close to paying off another loan ( I can almost smell it!!) and am bound & determined to get it paid off this year. Then I keep going over the snowball effect this will have on my other debts.

Does anyone else go through these spells where you get a little, well, obsessive!???! I guess there are worse ways to spend my time!! I am not crazy, right....right??

yes, I spend hours every month tweeking the budget...and around the new year...yikes!...I can get really tuned out to the rest of the world. I just really like #s and math....I know, sick.

But, In my defense, I have to say, when I don't, the money really goes quickly. Then I wonder where it all went to, KWIM?

You are not alone at all! I have a notebook just for my notes and comments and ideas about money or what I need to do. I write and re write lists. Make charts and figure out how ad when I will pay something off. Its addicting. I think I have an obsessive complusive in this area!

I brought it up to my mom one day and she said she has no lists...no charts. I wonder HOW!!!! I need to see it writen down and on the computer (I have my income and expenses til end of year on my microsoft program) and then I follow it much better.

I think its what works for some people..and I actually think I NEED it to survive..LOL!

I do a lot of tweaking of the budget, too. Can't wait to get those bills paid off.

    Default I am the same

I cannot spend a dime w/o writing it down. (Actually anything over 49 cents - but I don't buy too much w/ 49 cents, these days). It's all catagorized and I'll have a "tick" in my head until it's recorded.

I don't review my budget every day but probably every few days, and definitely once a week and once a month. I know where my $$ goes

We are debt free except for the house so I'm always crunching numbers to see how soon we can have that paid off.

I don't really have a strict budget, but I am constantly checking my accounts.... ROTH, ING, Chase, WaMu, Target.... you name it, I'm on it.

I do roughly plan out how I'm going to spend my income each month, and like "checking" things off on my to do list.

I'm also a bit fanatical in updating my sig.

Obsessive.....Did some one say obsessive???....I keep telling DH I'm not and he keeps asking me why then am I continueing to recrunch the same numbers??? Most of our spending is pretty fixed but sometimes our income fluctuates a little (the budget always loves a little OT). I'm forever extending where we'll be on our plan 6 months out, a year out, and so on. Then I try to tweak it and make it better. I won't even start on my lists. I love lists!!!

I was insane about it the last two years because we were obsessed with saving for the down payment of our house and paying for my masters. We called it "operation don't spend". and it worked.
I let loose this summer, decorating and remodeling. But I'll be back at it this fall. Dh starts his masters in the spring and I'll be ultra frugal all over again.

well.. i do this on an almost daily basis. i check my savings and checking several times a day. i cant help it. i know what the numbers are, i just keep getting online and checking them because i want to figure out something new.. how much did i spend on fast food this month, how much did i spend on groceries this month compared to last. things like that.

also, i figure and refigure the budget and the numbers several times. the same budget over and over and try to find places i can use the money best or, how if i do something over here it affects something over there ect. im talking sheets full of writing, numbers, numbers and writing. page after page of back and front. and then i scratch it and start on a fresh sheet and try to create a new budget to see if i can come up with something that works better or allows me to put more into savings. i do this alot on my break at work and during lunch. i get to work early just so that i can do it at my desk and not have people think im crazy. and then i find those sheets all over the place. in my car and in my purse.

i dont like saying that im obsessive about it. i just.. want to do better with my money

    you are not alone.
