any Ideas?
hey I'm new to the forum but I wanted to see what you think I should do in this situation:
ok I'm a musician and I'm selling my CD's online and via digital downloads
I wanted to open up a new account with my current bank to manage the money I make from the music but due to me having an outstanding balance at a previous bank from a few years back check systems and the bank will not allow me to open a new account
well I obviously know I have to pay the balance but the question is what should I do in the mean time? i do not want my money from my personal account to get mixed in with the money I make from the music the reason i'm asking this is mainly because I have more people paying me through digital downloads than physical album copies
the only solution I have just covers the physical cash I get. and that is to put my money in money orders and store them away until I get this mess straightened out
I wanted to know mainly are there other alternatives OTHER than going to a bank?

You need to link Paypal to a personal bank account.
How about taking those money orders, and paying the balance owed to the previous bank? Then you will have the freedom to bank where ever you want.
In the meantime, you can just use the personal account you said you already have. You aren't required to have a separate account for a proprietorship business, but keep meticulous records for tax time. If you are accepting checks from customers, have them made payable to you personally. Through Paypal it shouldn't matter, just use your personal name to sign up.
I ran my side business through my personal account for about 3 years before I finally got around to opening a business checking account (actually, after the bank gave me a hard time about depositing checks payable to my business). It is much easier with everything separate.
Good luck. What type of music?

Can't you just go to a different bank?
Try UFBDirect http://www.ufbdirect.com/ufbdirect/
I've been with them since 2005.
