Default grrr... our septic tank caved in

I'm so sick... our septic tank caved in.... it was put in when the house was built in 1978... we are going to have to put in two new ones... yes, I said that right... TWO... a larger one to the south of our property for everything upstairs... and a smaller one on the lower slope of the west side of our property for the downstairs bathroom...

thank goodness the banker is a nice guy... he's just gonna tack it onto the tail end of our house loan.... which will eliminate the need for another payment... but will lengthen the time on our loan....

guess its better that it happened now rather than in the middle of winter, right??

That stinks! Maybe that's not the way to put it....

But it lasted almost 30 years, so you must have taken good care of it.

We've always had public sewer. We're planning on moving in a few years, to a more rural area, and we've been trying to educate ourselves a bit about septic systems. Not a fun subject!

it was a concrete tank... so I guess if you look at it as a 30 year success... makes it a little easier to swallow.. these next ones are going to be fiberglass... good luck with your rural living... I couldn't imagine moving back to town.

I'm so sorry this has happened to you. This is one reason I'm thinking of not owning a home if I ever sell this one. I get so tired of the repairs. It always comes at the worst time.

Oh yes, you looking at the positive side (glad that it happened before winter) is a good thing. I had to replace one (sorry for your 2) and had a porta potty in my front yard for a couple months in the dead of winter(due to a flood, 96') in Upstate NY one year. Jan Feb & March. And during that time my back went out.... Yes it could be worse & yes I feel your pain. big big hug

Wow! I guess I'll quit pouting about having to do a minor repair to the valve on my toilet. Good luck, and I hope it is all taken care of before the first freeze.

the clean up of the septic is exspensive here in PEI. But having 2 new tanks fibroglass ones are great. they last forever.

Oh wow do I feel for you!!! We just bought our first home and DH collapsed the septic system when driving the truck through the backyard. We had to use our income tax to fix it! That stinks! Glad to hear you have a way of getting it fixed!
