Hey~ it's starting to work!!
Ok, we've had really good months and then some bad months.
Now things are falling into a pattern of PAYMENTS.
This month I've paid nearly $500 extra on a cc!! $240 of that today
I deposited a check, and made the payment as soon as I got home. Tomorrow, dh gets paid, and I get another check. So that should mean almost $600 more onto that debt! I'm only 1 month behind on my plan, so we're doing ok. but it's getting easier.
in the new year, dh starts getting paid weekly. Yes, weekly. That is going to be an adjustment. I think we can make it work even better for us. As we'll get a lump every friday. If I can delegate it asap. Then we don't need to worry about spending it.
The hard this is fuel! OUCH. We have 3 kids in sports. So we drive alot. There's no way to cut back. We try not to use the gaz guzzler as much as possible, so it's only used during the week if I have appointments during the day while dh is at work. Or if we have sports overlapping on the weekend. Otherwise we use the more fuel efficient. But that is still over $60 a week~ for that vehicle. Mine is $80/2 weeks, simply because I refuse to drive it as much as possible.
Anyway, I think in December the next cc is paid off, and I can work on the next one which is the student loan. This is easier, as we never add to it, it's always paid down, never going up. Dh gets a bonus in December, so that'll pay for Christmas, if i get my way, MOSTof it will be paid on bills and take care of all of that.
I must say, dh is being more conscious. Only $111 on his CC in 2 months!! (gas when he doesn't have time to get cash). I pay it off every month.
We slowly but surely getting the hang of it.

Glad to see ya back and posting, and you'll get there, sometimes the tiny setbacks really put us in a slump, then kick start us big time!!!
I'd love to have $500 extra this month for the mortgage, but ugh, just put up 7 tons of feed and am expecting a painful gas bill the next few months for heat. And sigh, they have NOT picked up the hours yet for me at work.
You go get those bills girl!!

This is great news! Slow and steady wins the race.

It isn't easy, but I now that I'm budgeting, the setbacks don't seem to knock me down quite as bad as they use to.

Great job! I feel for you with the sports. My kids have played club soccer and it is not uncommon to drive 80 miles one way for a tournament. We are on our last one and the bonding time in the car is worth it.

wow, that is great! A reminder to me that I need to stick to things even when I don't see instant results...some things take time. You are doing a great job and just think of where you will be this time next year!

Sports are pricey, to be sure. And we have 3 out of town tournaments coming up. It's going to be costly, that is 5 nights of hotels, plus food. But we look at it this way. What is 1000/kid per year in the long run? They are part of something, they are team members, learning important skills, such as team work, team leadership. They are more importantly ACTIVE. In a world where over 50% are overweight, they are learning that active living is important. And they will hopefully continue it a lifetime, and avoid the health care costs of diabetes, heart failure, etc. And they are busy, so no time to get bored and into trouble. It is also motivation to keep their grades up, I don't expect 90's but respectable grades, if they start slumping, they start missing their sports.

Keep plugging away at it. You're inspiring others to do the same. It wouldn't be as gratifying if it was all easy to do - I think thats part of the challenge.. WTG!!
