    Default I hate insurance!

We have the choice of dh's health ins going up $50 a week more or going with a higher dedictable HSA health plan. We weighed out the difference and to hit the family deductable (3000) with the hsa including the 500 the employer will add to the hsa account we need to put $50 weekly in the hsa account. The price for the hsa/higher deductable ins in the same premium we pay now. However we need to put that $50 a week in the hsa. Any way you look at it it will cost us $50 extra a week. UGh However the good thing about the hsa option is it can roll over from year to year. We are a healthy family that doesn't have big medical bills.

Routine healthy care is covered at 100% no deductable (so a yearly exam)

Seems it is always something! Especially since we are still saving for braces. Oh to add insult to injury the electric co has a nice rate hike in Jan. It tell you it seems to just keep piling up.

    Ok rant over! LOL

I hear you. I work in health care and have a horrid insurance plan that none of us like. It's a high deductable with and HSA and optional FSA. It all works out great if you don't get sick.

I hear you!!! Ugh! I thought the hsa option was better since the other premium was up $50 a week.

Doesn't it stink! We have a $4,000 deductible and HSA. Last year we actually satisfied our deductible in December only to start over again in January.

One thing I would check out is this....You said your insurance pays 100% for your yearly exam? Well our insurance does too but, only for charges up to $250. For my gyno exam, no problem but if you add lab work etc., I end up having to fork out money for that. That doesn't include a health physical by my regular physician.

Anyway you put it, insurance stinks!

Looks like it is exam, pap, cholesterol and blood sugar covered. Its PPO so prearranged price. Wah I want my $20 a visit ins to stay. I need to check further into what you are saying.
Gosh every year it goes up and covers less and less

Ugh that is not fun!!! I'm trying to figure how to go on $50 less per week. How far can we stretch the budget?

I also wanted to mention with HSA/FSA, everyone on the plan I am on, and I don't exaggerate when I say everyone, has been asked to provide documentation of their purchases either meds, doctor's office, labs, whatever, on their own time and dime, because the records from the pharm/doc office, etc. don't always line up with what the HSA carrier has. It's often a huge mess, and actually takes away from work productivity because most of us work M-F business hours and must call during the day to sort it out and that can take up to an hour a lot of the time.

Eeek now I'm getting nervous. Do you have a debit card/checkbook for the has. We get one to pay the medical bills. The insurer is Unicare. I'm hoping it is easier since it is a prefered provider plan and pretty much every dr or clinic with in 50 miles is in plan. Unicare was our regular no deductable $20 a visit insurer the last few years and it was no problem as long as it was a PPO dr. Crossing fingers.

I have to say ins is getting really ridiculous! As a % of pay even with the employer paying 80%.

Health insurance is just going to continue to get worse. Many places that provided health insurance have stopped because of the cost.

The elections are coming up. Keep the health insurance issue in mind when you go to vote.

Boy can I relate to hating insurance! I work part-time, and have medical benefits with my job. My entire pay goes to pay all the insurance we must have. Here a round-off of what I pay:

    Health (family) -- 300.00 month
    Dental (family) -- 28.00 month
    Auto(no points, 2 teenagers) -- 650.00 month
    Motorcycle -- 40.00 month
Life ins for dh -- 50.00 month

    Homeowners -- 500.00 year

    It's killing me.

Yep, we have a debit card with the employer HSA contribution and then FSA $$$ if one has money taken out for that already. With the FSA money we're suppose to be able to buy OTC drugs.... well, every single time I've done so I've gotten an audit and had to send in all kinds of documentation. *sigh* But it's been cake for me in comparison to some of my colleagues whom have real medical issues. If you don't solve the problem fast enough the insurance provider cuts access to your card so no meds, no labs, no doc appointments. It's awful. My employer employs over 25,000 people and in the last survey 60% said they were very unsatisfied with our plan, it was mind boggling because nothing on the survey had such a high dissatisfaction rate, including compensation, retirement, parking and other perks, job satisfaction.... my employer basically has egg on their face right now.
