Default I've been reading this blog...

I've been reading this blog written by a man trying to reduce his families debt and save for retirement. There seem to be a lot of obstacles thrown in his path. Today's post even makes me wonder just in general about the blog. However, he does post his zero-based budget every month and ask for input on it. I'm not so great at analazing other peoples budgets but I know there are a few villagers that are and that like to do so. Thought I'd post the link for them.

He does have a lot of obstacles, but still keeps at it. Kudos for him for that. I hope things turn around for him some day, the man surely deserves it for the tenacity he displays. Jmo.

~Thanks for posting. I enjoyed reading that. He's got alot of areas he could improve but I'll give him an A for effort! I loved that he wasn't too proud to apply for a second job at supermarkets to get a 10% discount on groceries purchased there.~

Wow. That guy has a hard row to hoe. He's in deep, is surrounded by people who don't how to get on board, and he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I find it fascinating, however, that the concepts of becoming debt free and saving for retirement have resonated with him. If this guy can do it, there's hope for the whole world.

That's one of the the things that really struck me. No one else REALLY seems to be on board. The other thing that gets me is that he appears to be genuienly asking for readers advice and then getting constantly slammed in the comment section. That would make me nuts. I'd give up with the blog. Today he posted about a new grandbaby being born and the comment section so far is more negative then congradulations. If this guy is really on the level then I'm rooting for him. I always have a soft spot for the underdogs.

I just don't understand why he gets involved with everyone elses problems. I mean he is taking in kids, grandkids, cousins, etc. It is just crazy! I am all for helping out family when needed but sheesh! His daughter and SIL sound like real winners-I felt bad for the grandkids though. And what's this about SIL telling him that he had a p*rn and gambling problem? Sorry it doesnt go away just like that. If DH told my dad that, my dad would be through the roof. It just seems like everyone is mooching off of him and his DW, heck they even pay for ALL of Thanksgiving dinner! They have some serious boundary issues. All that aside, I feel really bad for the guy and it seems like he is trying really hard. I hope everything turns out okay.

I can't believe the negative comments regaring his son, my DH is in the Navy and while I would love for there to be no war, we still have to support our men and women as they are putting their lives on the line each and everyday, not just over in Iraq but else where too.

I tried not to respond in the comment section on the blog about my beliefs with the military as I was attempting to at least keep my comment where it should've been....on the post of a new grandbaby. That aside, both of my brothers are in the military and I have develo0ped very strong opinions on supporting our troops. I found some of the comments appalling.

I can't believe the hurtful insults some people put on there. As someone put it 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'. What happened to that?

Sometimes I think people put others down to make themselves feel better and I do feel they are doing it in this case too.
