Default Taking the first step to ridding myself of debt in 2008

In 2007, we made some financial decisions that weren't that great and ended up owing CC debt. We had been CC debt-free for a long time until 2007. If we did use the CC, we always paid the balance in full. Something changed this year and we started falling behind.

Well, I made a promise to myself that I would pay off all of the CC in 2008 and only owe for the vehicles and house. Then I would work on the vehicles.

So, today I took all those CC's out of my purse and cut them up. I won't close them because they aren't paid off, plus they are helping with my credit score.

I am happy to know there will be no more charging!!

I have done the same thing with a card. The only one I have now is the one I am not currently using (paying cash for everything) but keeping it just in case of a huge emergency. And it will have to be a HUGE emergency for me to break down and use it.

I hate to admit it, but I have 13 CC's. YIKES!! I do not owe on all 13. I only owe on 6 and I never maxed them out. Two have around $1800 and the other 2 are less than $100 and 2 are anywhere from $500 - $800. So, I have some work to do, but it can be done. I guess it could have been worse, but I WOKE UP and said ENOUGH!

We also fell behind and are going to get rid of our cc debt of $5400.

Isn't it a great feeling knowing that you are on a mission? I know you can do this!

In the same boat here! I'm about to pay off two of mine with my year end bonus money. I just need to take some time to sit down with my finances in the next week - hasn't been much time to do that lately!
