Default I finally broke down today and....

paid off 8 out of 10 credit cards totaling $10,000... I'm feeling a little uncomfortable about not having that nest egg...but.. in the same breath I feel relieved knowing that there isn't much cc dept left..A little back ground on me..LOL.. I've had the money in the bank for at least a couple of years to payoff the dept back then(2005) when it wasn't as much cc dept as we have acquired now.. even more dept in the past 5 months..Anyhow..I was always afraid to pay them off in case something happened and we wouldn't have the money that we normally have in the bank.. Finally I've had enough of trying to make sure every payment is made on time and freaking out thinking I've missed a payment because theirs so many cards I have to payon every month... I even paid off our car insurance until the next renewal in March..

WTG!! I hope you didn't send ALL of the savings in, but you're right about not having to stress out about making the payments now. Take those monthly payments and snowball them onto the remaining debt and soon you'll be building your savings back up!

Just think of all that interest you are no longer paying.

Thanks for all your support... Darlene..I will indeed sleep better tonight!

Momof4cat...No we didn't use every cent to payoff those cards.I kept thinking of Dave Ramsey saying to keep at least a $1000.00 for an emergency..
So we still have $5000.00 left..as I don't feel comfortable going below that certain amount.

Way to go! I think you made a wise decision as well. You can start putting the interest you are saving back into savings.

Side note: I wish I could say I paid off that many cards today! You did great!!

    CONGRATULATIONS!

I think you made a very wise choice! Now, if it were me, I'd close some, most or all of those accounts pronto, and cut up the cards so that I wouldn't be tempted to run them up again. Your situation might be different, though.

Just think how much you'll be able to apply to your other debts now that all those little payments have disappeared! You'll be paying them off and building back up your savings in no time.

How wonderful. And like someone mentioned, you will be saving on interest!!

Yeah that!!! That is so awesome and you still have alot in savings. We all have different comfort levels. If $5000.00 is what you are comfortable with, I say make sure you always have that.
