VENT: My boss is a jerk!
Ok, vent ahead! Don't say I didn't warn you!
I work in a retail store in the accounts payable department. We've been really backed up and I've been trying to catch up on all the paperwork. My boss wanted all this stuff done and wanted me to try and get a little ahead. So, I worked my tail off to finish November's paperwork and get December caught up so we could get it to the accountant in time. I do all this, don't even get so much as an acknowledgement that it's done, and now I'm getting yelled at for working overtime! I had to work extra to get what he wanted done!
And the thing that really irritated me is there's a salesperson that got 10 more hours of overtime than me (I got 15, he got 25) and nothing was said to him because he's bringing in money. I don't do sales, so I'm a company liability rather than an asset. What my boss doesn't realize is without me and the other people on the office staff, the store would fall apart and his precious salespeople would be worthless! AGGGGHHHHH!!!!
Ok, I'm done. I just needed to get that out. I wanted to complain to my DH, but I can't reach him on the phone. Of course, now that I'm caught up and this is the time of year where paperwork starts to decrease, I'm going to be struggling to even get my 40 hours each week. It's normally feast or famine in my department as far as work load goes..I told my boss that if he didn't want to worry about overtime, make me salary and the overs and shorts for the year would all balance out. He'd never do that.

Awww, sorry about that, what is it with bosses today? Mine literally HATES me, will not look at me, snorts when I come near her and grumbles under her breath!
Last night was so bad that one of the other girls was daring me to just walk near her to watch her reaction!
What I do is just remember, it's so much pay a minute wether she likes me or not, so I might as well smile, makes the time go quicker (and gets under her skin, lolol)
At least yours will talk to you
Hope the rant helped, we're always here for you

I feel your pain. I find that the more my boss talks these days, the less I listen...

Gah!! Can't edit.
Last week, I had to call my boss to give her some info about 5 minutes before it was time for me to clock out. We're on the phone, I'd already passed along the info, and she's yapping away... I'm in my "uh huh... yeah... uh huh... right" mode.
At 8:30 she tells me, "Oh! You need to clock out. It's 8:30 on the nose." Then what does she do? She keeps me on the phone for another 15 minutes talking about absolutely nothing important!!! 15 minutes of my own time... wasted... I was so angry.

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. If it's any comfort, most of us run into employers who don't have a clue what our jobs and lives are like. I've been blessed to have wonderful employers except for one. That particular man was an equal opportunity antagonizer; everyone felt his wrath. He seemed totally ignorant of what our mission was. So we employees made a pact: we would outlive him. Sure enough, he lasted one more year on the job before moving on, and the rest of us just grinned. We had survived!!! So hang in there, smile, pray. You can overcome, and you can do it with graciousness!
Spiritual:
"You are fearfully and wonderfully made." Please... respect life.
Financial:
Debt free, hoping to stay that way!

I feel your pain. I bring in a ton of money for my company and I am not compensated nearly enough for it, nor is it even acknowledged.

Lord knows I hate to stick up for a boss, I've had plenty of bad ones and I was once a boss myself but....he can't just make you a salaried employee. There are wage and hour law requirements before someone can be classified as a salaried employee and from the brief description you gave, you don't qualify. Sorry.

I do the same type stuff for a different type of company and I'm salary and have been for years. I only work 30 hours a week, but am salary regardless.

I feel your pain....I really do.....my boss will not say good morning half the time, will not stick up for me, and has not liked me since day one. If she has something to say to me, she will say it to someone else within ear's shot of me. I ignore her when she does that. I call it poor management style, plain and simple. I hope and pray that things get better for you.

Do we have the same boss? Mine had to discuss something with me on night last week. She walked RIGHT BY ME on her way to the office then paged me to the phone to discuss it ON THE PHONE! She literally can NOT look at me, I honestly can't figure it out!
I do know that there is a LOT of unrest in our company right now, the full timers have been cut to 28-30 hours a week and are NOT happy. I'm part time and one of the lowest paid there, so I end up getting called in to cover sick employees and the grunt work that needs done. I found out the full timers are mad at ME because of this, they went off on a rant about ME the other night when I wasn't there. The other part timer stuck up for me and told them to get over it, I'm just DOING MY JOB LIKE THE REST OF THEM.
Ahhh, work dramas, don't you love them?
I get through it by constantly remembering that it's NOT MY LIFE, it's JUST A JOB!
