Default Money I never thought I'd ever see

To make a long story short...

Last May my hubbys best friend and his daughter lost their home. Best friend had nowhere to go so we took them in. 2 months later friend lost his job due to an accident. Friend was with out work for 2 months and never applied for unemployment. Friend didn't do much to make his keep, we had to help with his daughter. Well friend was here for exactly 9 months and NEVER gave us any money. Last night friend came over to visit and gave hubby and I both hugs and told us thanks for everything and handed us a wad of CASH. I am still in shock.

Today I went over to the bank and deposited all but $200. I had to buy b-day presents for ds, and have to pay some fees for kids school. I even have a little left over for any good sales at the grocery. All the rest is going right to the CC so I can get out of debt faster

    Wow, that is awesome.

I'm really surprised you are seeing money after all that time. your frined is a truly good person to come back and take care of his debt.

    Congrats on the unexpected windfall!

Yes he is a great guy. Before we were married Hubby's friend lived with us. Friend is our dd#2 godfather.
I hate to sound so mean in the original post but it was getting hard to have friend and his daughter with us for sooooooo loooonnnggg. I got upset that friend wasn't paying us something or at least DOING something around the house to help out (mowing, shoveling, dusting, vacuuming) I just got upset that he didn't TRY to do anything to help himself get out of his situation.

Awe, the 'Thankful' person. I know it happens alot more than we hear about but it's so good to know it happend to you!

I think the 'norm' is not to trust people but so many times, they do surprise us.

You have been blessed with a wonderful gift and that gift is not money but is friendhship, may it last forever!

That's great! Especially since you didn't expect it. What good friends you and your hubby are to help him out.

Dolphin - I agree! I've loaned money to many people and the one person I was sure wouldn't pay it back was the ONLY one to pay it back!

That is great. You were truly a friend to this man and his daughter in their time of need and it is wonderful that he was able to repay you for it.
