    Default Making some changes

So, I have $24,000 in debt, and have a really hard time even making the minimums. I live in a part of Upstate NY that is really hard to find a job.

Tomorrow I'm moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Instead of living with my parents, having no wheels, being in a tiny town, with no job...

I'll have an apartment, public transportation, I'll be able to get a job.

I think this is going to be a turning point in my life and just the door I need to open to be able to get my life on track.

I'm going to contact CCS in Colorado Springs, and hopefully they'll have something better to say than the one here, that told me to file bankruptcy.

I am responsible for these bills, and I want to take care of them. When I can, I'm going to read TMMO. Any other suggestions?

Don't bother with CCCS then at all. Slow and steady will pay off and pay off those debts.

I was 30K in debt last year, now that number is much lower.

    Welcome to Colorado

I agree don't bother with CCCS. Just read and APPLY Dave Ramsey's principles. Also visit this website frequently. I have found such inspiration here as well as a gazillion ideas on how to save money. You will need support so stay in touch with all of us on how it goes. As you will note in my signature I owe a bunch but I am slowly digging out from under the mountain of debt and as you do likewise you will experience such a boost in self esteem.

WOW! That is a huge lifestyle change you're making! I think the others are right, you can do this yourself with the right research and the right support. Don't let the dollar amount scare you though, it really has the power to sidetrack you. You're taking steps and that's great!!

    Good luck!!

Make a budget that you can stick to. It helps keep the procrastination-monkey off your back.

I agree, if you get the book ASAP and begin to follow the steps you will dig out.

It may take a while but it can be done.

    Best wishes on the move.

I live in Central NY and I agree that many places around here and upstate NY are lacking for great job opportunities and you pretty much need a car to get anywhere. I wish you luck with your move and relocation. Keep visiting this site, there's lots of support here to help you along with your debt reduction .

I have nothing new to add. I completely agree with the above posters - read TMMO immediately and start your budget/payback plan.

I'd stay away from CCCS too. Once you read TMMO, it will be more clear. Dave Ramsey says most people do not need to file for bankruptcy...they just need to make some lifestyle changes to dig out of debt.
