Default met with our first financial planner today!

    it was really exciting
got me totally stoked to SAVE SAVE SAVE and make our money work for us
I kind of wish we had done this two years ago
but it's certainly not too late we are 23/24
saving pretty aggressively so I'm all fired up and excited to retire haha
it's really nice to get excited about money
we re-did our budget with our guy and found REALISTIC ways to save an extra 300 a month on top of our 1200 so WOO HOO
since we don't carry debt beyond mortgage and about 2500 on one car loan our guy said we are sitting pretty being nice and cheap with EVERYTHING else!

Isn't it great? We had a similar experience the first time we saw a financial planner, and I, too, wish that we had done it years ago. It made all the difference in our finances and enabled me to retire early. Way to go, and keep on saving!

We still need to do this...it's just scary trying to pick someone and trust them with your money lol. But I did find one that is on Dave Ramsey's list and he's only about 45 min. from us, so we will probably set up an appointment with him.

Good for you and you are definitely right when you say it's not too late since you are only 23/24...oh what I wouldn't give to be that age again and know what I know now !!!

That's the reason we are on our kids to contribute to their 401(k)s if they are available...even when they think they can't afford too. My hubby was in his early 30's when they became available and if we would have started earlier than we did we'd be rolling in it...of course we still have a nice nest egg set aside from what we were able to do, but the younger you start the more you will have in the grand scheme of things!!!

    Default really helpful?

I'm just wondering what a planner could tell you that we haven't all learned on these boards? Or was it more specific about investments and such? Just wondering if it would really be worth it. Glad you are feeling excited- good for you!

I want us to go see a finacial advisor/planner. I'm glad you feel your visit was successful. You are at a wonderful age to be deciding your future and have a plan of attack. Good for you. I wish I had started at your age.
