Some Success.......now on baby step 2!
Well aftrer joining this forum and reading Dave Ramsey's book (several times!) I got gazelle intense! I knew it would take a few months to save up for the BEF and start working on baby step 2 if we didn't get 2nd jobs or sell things. Well, my dh has been doing side jobs, I already have 2 part time jobs.....I'm in the process of getting another one, I am getting ready to sell some big items, so I decided to cash in my Universal Life insurance policy for term life, get the cash that I had contributed towards it for the past 17 years and fully funded the emergency fund, paid 8 credit cards, 1 doctor's bill and now all we have left are 4 credit cards! They're big ones and will take about 1 1/2 - 2 years to pay off but we are going to do it as quick as we can. Not that I recommend this to anyone else, but dh just also cashed out his mutual funds policy to get money to pay off another credit card. We weighed the pros and cons and decided this was the best thing for us to do. Anyway, I just needed to tell someone that really understands what it means to make progress and how good it is starting to feel!

Well done, sounds like you're really making progress. I love Dave Ramsey, I keep trying to get all my in debt friends over here in England onto the programme but they're just not ready for his southern charm yet!

Wow...that's fantastic! Gosh, I wish I could move along my debt reduction that quickly.
How much we enjoy what we have is more important than how much we have. Life is full of people who have more than they know what to do with, but cannot be content. It is the capacity to enjoy life that brings contentment.---Unknown
