Heard on the news this morning that the price of coffee has gone up more than gasoline - percentage wise - 40%. So IF you find a deal, you better buy all you can because they said it will go up more.

Last time I was there, all the coffee was gone. I did find some powdered whole milk. I bought all they had at $5 a can.

    Do you know why---what happened?

Didn't hear anything about them being in financial trouble but mine
has been pretty 'empty' with people when I have been there. Their
prices were higher than groc. store normal prices.....for any food item.
    Still fun to look around.

Still, hope we don't lose ours............any competition is good.

It was years ago. Maybe due to this: (article is from 2005)

We have several in and around the Houston area. For some reason they closed the one closest to my house a year or so ago. I don't understand why. They did a booming business. The building is still sitting empty.

Read yesterday that coffee is going up 11%. It's already went up 4 times in a year.

I have quite a bit of regular and decaf in stockpile but if I find at a good price I'm buying as much as I can afford.

Also going up were anything cotton and anything corn based because of the midwest and south weather. Any excuse of course.

I have coffee in the stockpile and every time it goes on sale I get more. Dh has a habit of taking it out of the stockpile without telling me! Once a year (Christmas) I splurge and buy him three bags of our favorite which is Starbucks African Kitamu. The rest of the time we use the cheaper stuff like Folger's. For the first couple of weeks of going back to Folger's we feel kind of pitiful! LOL! No comparison...

I love Big Lots. We bought our furniture there for under 500 bucks. 2 pieces.
