I worked for an independent grocery warehouse. We shipped to various chain and private-owned grocery stores. When cases would be damaged by a forklift or labels were changed, freebie offers or coupons on the product expired, or products were nearing the printed date (within 6 months usually), those items were packaged into plain boxes and shrink wrapped on a pallet. Then the pallets were sold at a discounted price, a semi load at a time. The buyers did not know what they were getting just paid one price for all. Most of the buyers ran small salvage stores. There were times I wished I had a semi and the cash to buy some of those loads!

Thumbs up Ozark Liquidators / 4th St Mall

Hi, I wanted to add a listing to the Salem, Missouri salvage grocery stores. I work for the 4th St Mall in Salem, MO which is a great slavage grocery store. They also do some pretty awesome food auctions under their parent company Ozark Liquidators. You can check them out at OzarkLiquidators.com.

    Hope this helps!

I just found a new small independent "dent & bent" store in Wisner, LA last week. Small but a good selection. No meats, eggs or the like. dd lives between me & the store so I have a reason to consolidate the trips. Campbells cream soups .35; Stove Top .25; choc. chips .75 and the list goes on. they told me the inventory changes weekly to monthly.

LUV BB's in Newberg! Just got back from there this afternoon. Got campell's soups for .50 each, coffee ( some mexican brand) for $1.50 each,Tropicana OJ for $1.99 each ( which at Sam's I'm paying almost $7 for 2), canned veggies 3/$1 and some larger cans of seasoned greens ( like mustard, collards) for 2/$1. I found some mouthwash called Smart Mouth which I kn ow has to be more than $3. So I bought 2 of those. Fixodent denture powder for $1.50 each.Coppertone broad spectrum sunscreen for $2.50
Got a 5lb bag of quick grits for $1. Also bought 2lb bags of cormeal 4/$1.
They also have a refrigerated and freezer section. They have absolutely THE best Mennonite and Amish meats and cheeses.

And something really neat is that almost all the girls who work there speak German as a first language! I love it! Even tho I have absolutely no idea what they're talking about LMAO!! I want to learn German SO bad. have for years. I want to save up enough to buy the Rosetta Stone for German. It costs like $200 tho!

I am bumping this up for some of our new members to see. With grocery prices rising, we need all the help we can get! I went to the salvage store closest to me today and got a lot for $25.46.

You have to visit these places regularly because they get new stuff all the time. If it's a good deal, people will snap it up quickly! I try to go approx. every two weeks.

Do a google search for key words like salvage store, scratch and dent, damaged goods, etc. These places don't advertise and generally their whereabouts are spread by word of mouth.

The one listed for my city is no longer open. It hasn't been for about 3 years, so they really need to update the list IMHO

I am sure somewhere on the website for the list is a way to contact them to let them know that they need to remove your location.
