We live in the snow belt and can get upwards of 18" of snow. We have a few weeks of HOT weather. I can manage ok, but DH does physical labor and would be so nice for him to have AC. We've had a few prices, but only one person recommended a heat pump. The concept seems good (green and $ saving). I've read very mixed reviews and the brand that we'd have installed only had one very poor review. Thoughts on a Bryant heat pump? TIA
Heat pumps are supposed to do two jobs - add heat in the winter, and cool the house in the summer. The first part is done by pulling heat from outside and moving it inside. The second part is done with a normal A/C process.
Problem is, in cold regions with heavy snow, there IS no heat outside to move inside.
Heat pump in your climate would probably be a waste of money compared to just having a standard A/C installed.
