    FIL ended up with not only shingles after it was all done, but a hernia as well. I feel so bad.

    Once we do get moved (if the house ever sells), I think we're gonna spoil him a bit. He won't be able to enjoy it until March (when he has his hernia surgery) but that'll be enough time for us to plan some awesome stuff for him.

    I just wish that others felt the same way about the renovations. The house hasn't sold yet and I'm starting to worry.

    Shingles and a hernia, that must have been awful. I'm sure he'll really appreciate a bit of spoiling after all that, even if it won't be for a wee while

    My bro and SIL went through something similar after revamping a great deal of their house (at much cost and inconveince) in the hopes it would sell pretty quick once on the market, but it didn't. Very disheatening after all the effort. It did go in the end though and they were very pleased.

    I just saw this thread for the first time. GREAT job on the renovations. A real professional level job. Gorgeous.

    Short term goals:
    - $2,000: to set up my consulting business. DONE! INVESTED ANOTHER $5000!
    - $4,000: down payment gift to daughter to bring her down payment on a house to 20% and avoid PMI. ON HOLD.... her offer wasn't accepted...
    - $1,500: pay off Student loan ALMOST THERE!
    - $1,200: pay off credit card (was disputing with creditor (ALL PREDATORY FEES charged on ZERO BALANCE), but I'm giving up the fight to make this go away...) PUT OFF till June/July
    - $11,600: Pay off Cornerstone car loan by end of May 2011 DONE
    - Complete tax returns by February 15th DONE




    Long term goals:
    Continue to follow a modified Dave Ramsey plan to pay off debt. Progress has been made, but there is much to do...
