Default Does your refrig. have ice despenser in the door?

Mine does. Its a whirlpool. And it has quit working for the second time. The first time I called a repairman. He made three trips to the house to fix it and charged me almost $240.00 parts and labor.

It quit again this week so I searched for the model no and make on google and found the part number. The local appliance parts store wanted $150 for the part. I saw that sears parts direct had the part for $107 and I found a 10% coupon code off that. My dh can replace this part in less that a half hour. Thats so much better than waiting for and paying the repairman. There are even service manuals posted on the net! I didn't know that until this week.

Yep mine does. The icemaker went out just before the warranty ran out so we got it fixed for free that time. Went out a second time and guess what dh got me for a gift? A new icemaker. How sweet. He did buy it and put it in himself the second time.

Ours went out after the warranty. I think it's around a hundred for the part and we have not bought it yet. I've just been using ice trays again. Someday we will fork out the money and dh can fix it.

No don't have one. A few people I know have had trouble with theirs so doubt I will have one in the future either.

Yes, we have one, and after 11 years it's still going strong! However, on the other hand, the cold water dispenser next to it is broken. It didn't break on it's own. It had the help of a 6 YO little boy, who just had to get his drinks of water by putting his mouth right up to the thing, and made something snapped off. So if without a warning, someone comes over decides to help themselves to a drink from it, they get their feet soaked....lol! Oh....little boys, kwim?

Anyway, if I HAD to pick one or the other being broken, I'm glad it's the water thingy. Here in FL, we go thru a tremendous amt. of ice everyday, and I don't need to be making that much ice, and worrying about ALL those trays. It would get annoying fast. So My choice will be to always have an ice-maker.

Hope the fixing goes good for you guys!

Our last refrig never did work right. I always just opened the door and reached in to get my ice. We had it fixed once and it didn't fix it so we just said the heck with it. The one we have now works good.
