tomorrow is a big day...*gutter update*
We're getting our estimate for gutters. I'm doing a happy dance over here. When we moved in the gutters were not very good, but two yrs later and they're really BAD.
When we had work down for the ice dam on the roof, the workers punctured holes in the gutters and that just made a bad situation much worse.
Home repair costs stink, but I am super happy to have this problem almost behind us.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. The estimate knocked me over. I just can't believe for the life of me that gutters are that costly. Our first estimate was just shy of 9k.
They were kind and were offering us a 15% discount too.
We have another company giving us an estimate next week.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. It's a happy day at the Noel house. We just got our second estimate for gutters today. How can the cost be so drastically different?
New estimate $1200.

Me too. In my own mind I couldn't see it being more than 2k. We need quite a bit of aluminum work done and I knew that would cost more, but yikes..not sure what that other company was thinking.
This will be a huge relief having this done. When we get the roof and windows next yr, I'll probably pass right out from joy if gutters are making me this happy. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. $9000 for that first estimate?? You could get a whole new roof for that
I'm glad the second one was MUCH more reasonable!
We desperately need gutters on our front porch. If we stay here, dh & I are going to tackle it ourselves
