    Default are you handy?

    I wouldn't concider myself handy, although I am learning. I decided that the things that are broke in the house are opportunities for learning lessons. I can't break something that's already broken!! So I will go get those hands dirty and try to figure them out. I have already set a garden arch in concrete this week. last week i learned to use a jig saw and helped dh lay a new wood floor in our bathroom. and today i am going to tackle the water line to the a/c swamp cooler. it broke and needs replacing...can't break somethin that's already broke! Then i need to try to replace the end of a garden hose that is all messed up.

    I love your attitude!! Can't break something if it's already broke.

    I wouldn't consider myself really handy but I'm learning. I have to say I am handier than my hubby around the house. He CAN break something when it's already broke. He is really good with cars though.

    It's good to learn those things.. you just never know if you'll have someone around to do them. Sad I know... but DH loves to show me how to do those things too.
    Not that I'd jump at the opportunity though!LOL

    I agree, what a great attitude. When I first moved out, I would try to fix things on my own and if I had problems, then my dad would come over and help. Most of the time, I was able to do it myself! It's a great feeling of accomplishment when you fix something yourself!

    You can do it!

    On some things I am. I'm not great at fixing things but I paint, texture walls, sand, wallpaper, can do many DIY jobs myself. Gripey is better at "fixing" things than I am

    I am. I was a single mom for years and had to learn to be handy. If it was broke and I did not know how to fix it I would head to the library and find a book to teach me. I can do most small repairs around the house but DH likes to think that he is the only one that can fix anything . I guess I will keep letting him think that .

    i guess im pretty handy, if i dont know how to do something i'll fiddle around with it until i figure it out. not the best way to do it, but im not one to read instructions. im also pretty good around power tools i guess, i haven't cut anything off or drilled a hole in my hand, yet. im pretty posessive about my tools, i dont like the hubby to touch them, id rather just do it myself. but i also use to work in an automotive store and would watch the mechanics while they worked, so i know a little bit about cars too. im not going to rebuild a transmission anytime soon, but i do know a few things.

    I guess I would consider myself pretty handy, I try to fix things myself but if I can't and all else fails, I call hubby to fix it! :lol;

    i got the hose fixed just fine, no problems. But after i got the supply line for the a/c fixed i discovered one of the pups chewed through the electrical cord...gotta leave that one to hubby. Missy doensn't mess with voltage! LOL

    But all in all i am pleased, i made progress!

    I'm not very handy at fixing things. Thank goodness my Dhubby is.

    Last week he was given a desk lamp with a broken switch. Other than the switch it looked new and might work great. DH brought a switch today and put it back together. We saw a lamp just like it at HDepot for 45.00 on sale!
    It works great!

    DH isn't handy. His blood pressure goes up when he tries to fix something, so I've learned how to do quite a few things. Like tightening the arm on a recliner that's broke and changing the toilet seat.
