Talking Sometimes it pays to spend more!

I don't know if I have told any of you yet, but I bought my dream car three months ago: a 2006 Chrysler 300C. Yes, it has a HEMI! Yes, I know the mileage could be better, but I DON'T care. I finally have everything I have always wanted car-wise: leather, sun roof, dual heat/air, premium sound system, ABS, power seats, power door locks, power mirrors, a HUGE trunk with a back seat that folds completely down, driving lights and much more.

The point of this post (and yes, I do have one! LOL) is this: we are going to the beach this weekend and I decided to get my oil changed before we went. Well, DH ia an automotive tech, but he's been very busy, so I found a coupon for a LOF at the local dealer for 21.95. I knew the Hemi would cost more (it takes SEVEN quarts of oil) so I went into check. It was 37.95, but I decided to have it done because I would have to have DH drive it in and sit in traffic to get there and the gas would cost quite a bit for that. So, I went in this morning before work to have it done.

They finished in about an hour and came in to tell me it as ready. The service manager says, "Everything looks good but we found one thing." I am thinking there is NO way there's anything wrong. He tells me, "There's a chip on the left rear wheel cover".

Anyone who knows me knows I am absolutely ANAL when it comes to my vehicles and this chip is driving me NUTS, but a replacement wheel cover is $60.00--OUCH. So, my heart dropped when he said, "I ordered a replacement one. It should be here in about a week". I am trying desperately to figure a graceful way out of this when he says, "It's under warranty. NO CHARGE!" WOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOO! Who woulda thought?

So, thanks guys at Newberg Dodge!

I love that car and have since the day they first hit the road. It just looks so ...... rich! I wish my car wasn't doing so well and all paid off. I'd be buying one myself. Great job on the wheel replacement cover. You're right - they wouldn't have found the chip at Walmart

Nicely done! I agree with you that sometimes buying new"er" is the way to go! Warranties are a beautiful thing.

Dh and I had to buy a new lawnmower this year, and since I do 99% of the mowing, I insisted that I pick it out! Well, we have lived in our house for 5 years and this is our 4th mower! So I decided, rather than buy second hand for about $50, I'd go to the actual mower "dealership" and see what they had. For $300, I got a Toro self-propelled (that in itself is a beautiful thing), but it has a 3 year warranty on it! So I am guaranteed that this mower will run that long, which beats buying a new one at $50 each year. Plus, it is guaranteed to start in 2 pulls. If it doesn't I can take it in and have it fixed, no questions asked. And I got free winterization for the next three years to keep it running smoothly! Certainly worth it to me!

Congrats on your new car! Have fun with it!

I bought this car used (HALF the cost of a new one!) and will have a constant grin on my face for years to come. It only had 16,888 miles on it when I drove it home. Check out my Flickr account (I am npllori) and look for it. I put several pics up there.

Good for you! I hope you have many enjoyable years with your new car... AKA your baby huh?

I got a new honda last year. For 27 years I have dreamed of having a Honda... yea, I know... who knows why we want what we want, but I tell ya, it was like I had to have one before they laid me in the ground. Mines not the luxury model, ( it's a CRV) , one of the small suv's. Gets 27 miles to the gallon and its just plain cool to drive it.

Not so cool are the notes, but I tell ya, I have been thru paying for a car b/f that I drove for 12 years and still drive it, so I know I'll get it paid one day, but I "settled" last time, and honestly, I'm getting older. LOL Just once, I wanted to get the kind I wanted.

So I know how you feel. Sorry to ramble about mine, but I totally understand. And btw, I think your car looks super cool. I fell in love with the looks of those cars when they came out. It has that rich , classy , but sporty look about it , doesn't it?

Have fun at the beach in your dream car ! :-)

DH wants one of the older CRVs. he currently has a PT Cruiser and likes it except for taking it camping--no ground clearance! However, it's paid for, so he's going to be driving it for quite some time.
