    Default My First Coupon Trip!!

Well, this week I bought a Sunday paper for the first time, ever and went through the coupons and went grocery shopping! Before, I always thought that buying a paper wouldn't give me enough savings to be worth buying the paper... but here's what I got in just my first trip doing the very basics:

    8 Pack Scott Paper Towels:
    - Regular Price: 8.39 (1.05 a roll)
    - Sale Price: 5.99 (0.75 a roll)
    - Price after coupon: 4.99 (0.62 a roll) --> I know I could save more by doubling coupons, which I will try to do next time!

Yoplait 4 Pack Digestive Health Yogurt:
    - Regular Price: 2.69 (0.67 a container)
    - Sale Price: 2.50 (0.62 a container)
    - Price after coupon: 0.50 (0.13 a container) --> I doubled my coupons, 1.00 off each)

2 containers of purex laundry detergent:
    - Regular Price: 5.99 each.
    - Sale Price: 2.99 each.
    - Price After Coupon: 1.50 ea (BOGO) PLUS $2.00 extra bucks at CVS.. so really, they paid me 0.50 to buy these.

    2 Glade airfresheners:
    - Sale Price: 0.95 each
    - Price After Coupon: 0.48 each (about) (BOGO)

The other items I bought that day were good sales as well.

I know that some people on here do different things to save on money - many don't use paper towels at all and make their own laundry detergent. I am not ready to go to those levels.. but I hardly use paper towels (I used only 2 rolls in the last 4 months) so those will last me a llllllllloooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggg time and I use barely any laundry soap (I am still on the same average size bottle of all after 4 months) so those will last a long time too.

And it's nice to have some pretty air fresheners, so I splurged, which wasn't a splurge since they were so cheap.

I know these savings could be more... and I'm sure in the future I'll do better.. but I'm excited by this small step towards cheaper groceries! I still have a lot to learn about matching sales and coupons!

Congrats, you did great. I love going coupon shopping. I haven't been able to do much of that lately. Every penny saved is one that we can save.
