compare: swiffer wetjet & sweeper
Okay, so I'm thinking of getting something to replace my old mop&bucket.
The only place I mop is my kitchen... everywhere else has carpet basically.
So, what's the difference?
Can one or the other be used w/some of the mop liquids I have on hand already?
One more cost effective than the other?
What's YOUR preference and why?
Thanks a bunch!

The original Swiffer is more for sweeping up crumbs, hair, etc (so it takes the place of your broom & dustpan), and the Wetjet is what I use to "mop" my floor on a daily basis--in between scrubbings. I never cared for the original, but I do like the Wetjet. HTh

I'm glad you asked this question. I too was thinking of switching to a swifer.
I have another question, can you refill those things with your own floor solution?!?!?! I find the liquid to be a little pricy!Mom to Sara Louise (11) Wife to wonderful hubby Chad

I never really cared for my swiffer or my swiffer wet jet. It all seemed too expensive to buy the pads and the solution. In the time it took me to get the pads on, I could have already swept the floor...

Yes, I'm curious too about the liquid if i could use my own solution as well.
I haven't priced this yet... but I got a 4$ coupon off of the "starter kit" or whatever it's called... just wanted to see what everyone else had to say first!

I have Fibro and just can't lug the mop and bucket plus I have OCD so I have the yuck factor of using dirty mop water (which it is after the first few rinses) So I do love swiffer, Having said that, for my dry swiffer I made my own clothes using flannel.
For my wetjet I made these http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf27261057.tip.html and instead of using the refill bottle I just spray my floor with my own home made cleaning solution. Cheap for me and good for the enviorment!

I think a broom and dustpan work better than the Swiffer sweeper, but I love my Jet Wet! I make my own cleaner and refill the Swiffer bottles. I also use the CVS brand mop pads (I buy them when they're on sale buy one- get one free).

I don't refill mine, but I do spray an all-purpose cleaner on there and mop it up (I buy the bigger bottles of concentrated stuff and put it in spray bottle with water). I do buy the pads but only with a coupon. I will definitely be looking into the link rainbowgc put on here. I was also thinking about buying one of those steam mops for $80.

ok one more silly question on this...
the bottles that the swiffer brand stuff comes in... are they refillable?
(plastic?)
i dont know how this works... so i dont know if it's an aerosol can or what.
how often do the pads need replacing? each mopping?
recommendations welcome!!!

I don't buy the pads I put a micro fiber cloth on the bottom and use my own spray bottle of vinger and water. I can never get the top off from the swiffer cleaner so that is why I use just a spray bottle.
