H20 Mop - Floor and carpet cleaner
I ordered one of these a few weeks back, and have now had the chance to try it out on both hardwood, laminate, linoleum, and carpet.
I have been reading here about the Swiffer (tried it and hated it) and about rug-cleaning systems. I have to say that this little H20 Mop is GREAT!!
It is a little pricey, about $85, but if you order one, you can get a second one for $16, so it comes down to just a little over $50 per mop (not counting shipping) if you can find someone else who wants one to split the cost. You also get a free steam cleaning thingey with it (to use on walls and vertical surfaces), and two of the cotton mop heads, so you can use one while the other is being laundered.
The premise behind it is that it cleans with nothing but steam. I tried it out on the floor first and was pretty amazed at how well it worked. I had some spots on the floor that I had given up on and figured I would need a chisel to remove, and it took about three seconds for the H20 Mop to get those up. No detergent, no floor cleaner - just steam. It also REALLY cleans the floor. I used it in the kitchen, after having done what I thought was a good job of damp-mopping, and it picked up a LOT of dirt. (I am assuming from the cracks in the slats of the hardwood?)
I went after some old stains in the carpet this afternoon, and again, I am impressed. I sprayed them with some Simple Green, then used the H20 Mop on them. It took a few passes, but it got out a stain that I have tried in the past (unsuccessfully) to remove with all types of cleaning products.
It also uses very little water, so I got through the whole carpet without having to refill it. Because the unit is very light, even filled with water, you aren't lugging it around like a sack of bricks. And the really long cord means you aren't having to stop to unplug it every 30 seconds. It heats up in about 7 seconds.
It glides VERY smoothly on the carpet. It does have a bit more resistance on the floor, but not terrible. Picture wet terrycloth dragging on smooth surface - about that much. Took a little getting used to it, as the mop head is triangular and swivels around so that you can do edges and such, but once you get into it, it is actually a lot of fun. (And humidifies the air!)
Overall, I give it five stars out of five!DH aka Mad Hen

I've never heard of that particular one before, but is that one of those steam mops? I'm looking to buy a steam mop, but the only one I had seen advertised was made by Shark.

It is a steam mop. I can't even remember where I saw it first, although the box says "As seen on t.v." so maybe there. It has a terry cloth head that is very easy to put on/take off. You turn it on, give it a couple of seconds, and then off you go. It *is* steam, so VERY hot. I found that out when I stepped on the wet spot on the carpet after going over it. I had socks on, but it was still uncomfortably warm.
Here is the link to the site where I bought mine. You might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere. Also, it doesn't say on the site that you can get the second one for much less, but it shows up on the order form.

I was reading reviews on these after reading your post. I found a site that had them (not the product site of course) and almost every one was negative. They had problems with the mop breaking and not being able to get it fixed. Only using it once or twice before it broke. Customer service not being responsive, etc. So now I don't know if I really want one or not. Could you report back in a few months and let us know if it's still in one piece? lol. I wouuld really like one, but don't want to waste that much money unless I know for sure it will not break.

I'm surprised, because I've now used mine several times and really like it! I like that I have one piece of equipment that can go from floor to carpet and clean equally well.
Well, if anyone can destroy something through hard use, it is me, so I will definitely let you know if something goes wrong. So far, though, I've used it three times, and I plan on using it more today to clean up the parrots' room (laminate floor).
I also used the steam cleaner thingy in the kitchen to soften and remove some greasy bits I had missed on the wall, again with positive results.DH aka Mad Hen
