Nail trimmer for pets????
has anyone tried any of these that are seen on tv? I was just curious if anyone has found them in a store anywhere, versus buying over the phone or online.....
Thanks,

I just seen them this past weekend at Bed, Bath and Beyond. You can also get refill kits for the filing wheel (which is like an emery board wheel) but I didn't buy it. I was wanting to wait and see if someone else maybe has used it lol. Our little chihuahua's nails grow extremely fast and she can't stand for me to trim them and I am scared to half the time since she's jumpy. So I usually pay $6 bucks about every 6-8 weeks to get them trimmed. I am debating purchasing that thing for this reason. I wonder if it's noisy and that will scare a pet, or if just filing the pets nails with it instead of clipping them will work at all. Maybe someone has used it and can tell us, but I am going to check out some online resources and see the reviews on it and maybe decide whether to get it or not.

yep, we got one. It is a Dremmel tool with a guard and is not as powerful as a corded Dremmel.
We have 3 large dogs and it would take forever if we used that alone plus it tickles their feet (that what wife says) so we just cut them. 3/4 dogs not bad but Dutch hates getting his nails trimmed.Russ

Yep! Our chihuahua and dachsund love theirs. Got mine on ebay... Peticure brand, works fine... came with refill filing drums and a charger. I've used it twice on both dogs, still have yet to need a charge. Took some finesse and getting used to, but they prefer it to the clippers and so do I!!

We have one.
Our GSD would not let me trim his nails. He would bite and nip at me. So I got one of them and now, he lays still for me to trim his nails.

We bought one this week, but we haven't used it yet. The instructions say to get your dog used to it first by showing it to them and giving them praise. Then turning it on and praising them while giving them a treat. We'll see how it goes. One of our dogs hates for his paws to even be messed with, so I'm not sure how it will work.

I take my dog to the vet or groomers for her nail trims. She's very jumpy and it would take two of me to hold her down to do it. But since we're in the country and she runs around a lot, her nails don't get too long very often.

I've thought about these but I can't see my dogs holding still.
A tip from my vet on home nail trimming: If your dog does a lot of fighting and squirming when you trim their nails, look at where you are doing it. We kept trying to trim our older girls nails on the sofa where she is still in "her" territory so she gets scared and fights back. Our Vet suggested sitting her up on a table or counter so she is "out of her element" this should reduce the amount of squirming and make her more manageable. The Free Spirit Saver who walks the path with Greebo.

I bought the pedipaws and tried it on my huge beagle. I don't think it worked very well. It seemed like we sat there forever and his nails were just as long as they were when we started. It was a waste of time and money for us.

I'm planning on buying this soon. They have them at Bed Bath and Beyond for $20, and this week's People magazine had a coupon for 20% off any item at BBB, so it should end up being around $16 plus tax.
I have a beagle with very long nails. I try trimming them with dog nail clippers, but I'm always scared to death that I'm going to cut them too short and hurt her. I can't wait to get one of these!

I saw these at Target today. $19.99.
I haven't read many good things about it. I think we'll just stick to using the doggy clippers and emery board.
