    Default bargain alert: Easter hams

Easter is coming up and hams are going to be on sale. Look for prices around 1.39-1.59 per pound. Spiral sliced hams may be slightly more expensive, but still a good deal. You're not going to see good sales on ham again until Thanksgiving approaches.

What I like to do is get a spiral sliced ham and break it down into serving sizes in freezer zippy bags. I pack the nice slices for dinners, then pull the remaining meat off the bone to use in soups, beans, casseroles, etc. Then I wrap up the bone to make stock with later. It's also much easier to fit in my freezer in packages, than as a whole ham.

Easter is also the last big baking holiday until fall, so look for sales on baking supplies like flour, sugar, butter, cream cheese and spices.

Aldis has had some good hams at Easter and xmas. I do the same as CHW. But I think I may make something non-traditional?
I already did 18 HB eggs from Krogers sales. That's the luxury of having older kids. We talk about it and vote.

Got my spiral sliced hams (2) a couple of days after Xmas for .99 per lb. and froze them, knowing I'd need them for Easter. I actually got 3, but used one for a family gathering in Feb.
