Default Best Deal I found this Week 11/26/10

I bought so many groceries before Thanksgiving, I'm on a self-appointed "freeze" except for milk and fruit/veggies. We just don't have any room!

What great deals did you find?

My crazy deal today was a BOG1 for a 16 # bag of cat food. I bought it for the chickens because it has 35 % protein and I am hoping it helps the older ones get through the molt faster.

My other deal was skinless, boneless, chicken breasts at $ 1.79 a pound. Not sure how many pounds but about $ 15 worth. I really don't have room for it in the freezer but my plan is to can it tomorrow. And some for supper tonite

The following is a list of items that I bought for 1 price:

10 pkgs of English muffins (6ct)
    9 pkgs of bagels (6ct) (raisin/wheat/regular)
    5 loaves of cinnamon/raisin bread
10 pkgs of hamburger buns (8ct)
2 pkgs of hotdog buns (8ct)
2 pkgs of red corn tortillas (30ct)
17 loaves of assorted breads (white/rye/whole wheat)
How much did I pay for all of this?? .....Wait for it.....wait for it.......$5!

Not kidding....I actually paid only $5 for all of these items - our local discount bread store sells bread items that expire the same day, or will within a few days, by the grocery cart for $5 a cartful....and they pile the cart. Our freezer is packed

Not a great Publix week for me. Best deal I got there was Cat's Pride 20 lb. cat litter on BOGO for $7.69. I had $1/1 coupons, so each 20 lb. container ended up only being $2.85.

My new Save A Lot has a bread table with breads that have "best by" dates the same day that you're in the store. So I got a really nice loaf of New York Style Jewish Rye bread for .50! And a loaf of white for BF for .50, too. Both went in my freezer and I'm happy as a clam LOL.

Albertson's is the place I'm headed this weekend when BF and I go out shopping for X-Mas present supplies. They've got a great meat sale right now. I'm planning on getting:

4 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast @ 1.89/lb.
    2 lbs ground chuck (85% lean) @ $2.99/lb.
    5 lbs. chicken drumsticks @ $ .69/lb.
    1 lb. italian sausage/brats @ $2.99/lb.

12 lbs. of meat for $19.98 is really good for FL, IMHO anyway Works out to $1.66/lb. Plus, it'll last me quite awhile since we eat vegetarian 3-4 times a week usually. They have fresh salmon on sale for $6.99/lb, BUT, I just bought a lb. today at Publix for $8.99 (shame on me LOL) so I'm going to skip it.
