STaples ad this week 7/23/11
Okay. I'm confused why Staples would think I'd do this?
b1g1 after rebate 10 reams of multipurpose paper, $49.95 a case. Spend approx $100 get $50 back.
Okay. same ad, another type of paper (acid free, not multipurpose) $1 a ream. Same ad, pay $10 for a school supply discount tag, get 15% off all school supplies, including paper.
As far as I can see, the best deal is to buy the tag and then buy 10 or more reams of the $1 a ream paper for .85 a ream. Even if you get the 20 reams in the original deal, it's $17 + $10, not $50. I don't know about your printer, but everything but coated photo paper runs just fine though our printer.
wtf? Either I'm missing something or they just think that folks will be seduced by the b1g1 so much they just won't look at the rest of ad....

Edited to change post I see the 15% says ream paper. last year it was not counted as school supplies but office supplies.

Sometimes in business paper does matter. I'd have to see the two types to tell. I know I have to use ink jet paper with my ink jet printer or it bleeds. If you're a small company you want your presentations on nice paper, not cheap copy paper. Staples has two different deals on two types of paper. Maybe the paper doesn't matter to you, but I bet it does to some people.

I'm sure the two types of paper DO matter, but the .99 paper is the better grade. The case lot paper is "multipurpose" the .99 paper is copy paper, acid free if I remember correctly.
As an editor and former tech. writer/editor I do know about presentation being important. However, most of what I do these days is not for sale, but simply inhouse.
Anyway, I hope someone else will take advantage of the deal; I intend to!

The Gotcha!
is that the .99 paper is actually $4.99 and there's a $4 rebate. However, I bought a ream and they allowed me to use the previously purchased school discount on it, so that helped! Whether I'll get the $4 back or the difference between what I spent and .99 I dont' know? So the paper costs exactly the same as the multipurpose Staples brand, before the b1g1 deal.
