Default I want to buy a thermos and was wondering..

if people could tell me the types they have that they like or types they don't like and why.

I want one that will keep hot foods hot for a long time and cold things cold for a long time and don't know a thing about what thermos brand or type is a good type.

Right now, we have a small one and I don't think it keeps thing hot for very long. I also fill sippy cups a lot for our daytrips, but would prefer a thermos that keeps things really cold, so I don't have to pack those blue paks.

We like the Stanley thermos' They will keep food hot/cold for a very long time. Stainless steel lined and all that--- they are of course a bit more expensive, but well worth it IMO

We have an *Aladin* one. We have had it for 10 years. I like it alot. It keep very hot and it is not in glass inside. So the kids have dropped it I don't know how many times and it's still intact. I had paid it something like 12 $ canadian, back then....

I bought a new Thermos brand thermos when I was in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. It's the one you use for soup but I put coffee and hot chocolate in it too. It has a wide top, essential if you have chunky soup in it, and it's stainless steel inside and outside. The cup on the top is also insulated which makes it good for sitting on the side of the highway in the cold having a cup of tea. The feature I like the most is that you don't have to completely unscrew the top to pour out the contents, so it keeps the heat in while you use it. Great feature this. It cost me A$30 on sale.

I too am looking for a good thermos, but I'm looking for the short round one for carrying soup. I can't understand why I'm having such a hard time finding one. I assumed they were still in use but I have not found one yet. Do stores still carry them?

We have 2, one is a Stanely stainless steel one, works great and I've had it for 20 years. The other one is a Thermos brand, glass inside, and still works great too, we have had that one for about 15 or so years.

If you want one for soups, stews etc.... (like Bethany said) get one with a wide mouth.

Pat yes they do still sell them, I saw them in our Wal*mart the other day. They will be more available come back to school time.
