Question Has anyone purchased any of the "low-carb products"

And if so, which ones have you purchased and did you like it or not?

Here the products are so expensive its unreal. I did notice that even the smaller stores in the country are bringing them in though. Seems like a revolution is taking place in our eating products.

No I never tried them. I have seen them. I also have seen lots of coupons on the shelves of our grocery stores. Would you be interested CJ? I could take some and send you some.

Lucie, I got some coupons for some of the items, but I'm just not sure the products are worth the price they are asking for the items.

I'm sure the prices will come down over the next several months as more and more people purchase the product. Will see if that happens.

I agree with you. They will have to come down, because really too expensive. I'm not sure people will like paying that much.

I have only bought spaghetti sauce & bbq sauce & they were the same price as the regular.
I like both of these items with less sugar anyways, they were good.

We are just not into the low carb thing here and I do think the products are way overpriced and somewhat ridiculous. With dd's new diet, we are all eating much healthier anyway. I've never been the type to count carbs or protein or even calories for that matter. I try to eat healthy and in moderation (notice I said try).

I do a low carb but I tried the Atkins syrup that was on special recently, and eeeeeYUCK, that stuff is way icky!!!!

But the other stuff like ketchup and so forth, normally has a lot of sugar so the low carb versions may actually be a benefit to diabetics and others who do low carb stuff for health and to reduce the sugar load in their normal daily food choices.

Haven't tried them yet.

Some of it is marketing hype. Most of the pourable salad dressings, like oil and vinegar have always been low carb, you don't have to pay more for the labelling. Just buy the normal stuff, looking at the label. But things like Catalina or Russian dressing have lots of sugar, so getting low carb in that might be nice.

Kinda depends on what they use for a sweetener though.

And what the labelling laws are like.

In Canada we are getting a total carbs which INCLUDES SUGARS but in the States sometimes they are getting away with ignoring sugars as carbs which they are due to a legal loophole.

Reputable companies will include sugars in the carb count, but some of the flashy ones are using that loophole to market low carb products that are full of sugar, but low in starches.
