Ok so I'm not feeling well yesterday, flipping through the channels *UPDATE*
and I come across Shopnbc. They're having a show on tiffany style lamps
I've been wanting a really nice tiffany style lamp for ages. In fact I even ordered one from a catalog recently. Was sssoooo disappointed when it got here. Very poorly made. Needless to say I'm sending it back.
Dh comes home and I ask him if he still has the box for the said lamp. He says yes and asks why...so I show him what I'm wanting to do. He says go ahead. So I call. Now I think I have the flu but the main symptom I have is shortness of breath....when I do anything. I'm already doing something when the guy answers the phone (cooking supper) so I'm breathing hard already..... It goes like this...."Good evening thank you for calling shopnbc, my name is Richard-how can I help you?" Me (breathing very hard) I (huff and puff) want to order (huff and puff) the dragonfly tiffany style lamp....(huff/puff). He say Ooo-kaaay.... . I could just imagine what he's thinking but I don't wanna ruin it for him by explaining that I'm sick not deranged and honestly I don't have the stamina. (little did I know how much I was going to need before I got this dang lamp ordered) But anyway....So he starts taking my "information"...name, address, phone number, etc....
Well for some reason the computer doesn't like my address (?!). I have to give the info to him no less than 5 times and then he puts me on hold, which subsequently cuts me off. I call back and get someone else and have to explain it all to her, yes-huffing and puffing the whole time. I'm thinking I can soooo hear the talk around the water cooler today, about this weird woman from Texas breathing so hard into the phone....what in the world was she doing?! So, it takes and I'm not exaggerating one i-otta (does anyone know how to spell eye-o-ta?) 45 mintues and 2 phone calls and then searching for another credit card here b/c my 3 digit security code is worn off of the other one...! Honestly I think I could have driven to VA from TX much easier. Dh was even mad by the time I got off the phone. He was yelling in the background "hang up! if they don't want your order just hang up!" He didn't realize that they really were just having computer problems. The lady that finally got it all put in said "thank you so much, you were so patient" and I said " you have no idea how patient I really was"
That darn dragonfly lamp had better be something pretty darned special when I get it here, I'm tellin' ya fur sure!
The moral of this story is: Don't waste your breath (especially when you're short of it anyway!) on a stupid computer that doesn't like you.
~Update~
Got my lamp on Saturday and I have to say that it is perfect! I'll charge my camera batteries and post a pic of it tomorrow. I couldn't be more thrilled!
(well I could have been had I found it curbside for free or something but I'm really, really thrilled with it.....It was WORTH it!)
