    Arrow Cold water Tide

Lets do a review on this product. It looks like a number of our members got a free sample of Cold Water Tide.

    Here are my thoughts:

First off, I think this is the most ridiculous product on the market. For years, ladies have being washing laundry in cold water and using Tide with great success. Why we need "cold water Tide" is beyond me.

The price is higher here for "cold water Tide" than regular or scent free Tide which really defeats the purpose in that we are trying to cut costs by using cold water

I also found the smell very powerful. I had to hang my clothes on clothesracks yesterday because its so cold outside and I used the cold water Tide (the sample). The whole house smelt like soap.

Whats your take on this new product?

    I agree with you homesteadmama;
I am not a Tide user, but I got a free-sample of the CW tide at Wal-Mart one day. I used it on DH's work clothes, our dirtiest laundry. I did not see any difference than when I wash with Purex, except the scent was very strong. Tide for CW is a good $2 more per bottle than my Purex, and the bottle is smaller.

Same comments here. I priced it out and decided it was sooo not worth it. It washed the same as my cheaper detergent. What a marketing angle!

Although I use Tide regular, when I can get it on sale for a good price- , I realized this was a real marketing gimmick. I have used cold water washing for many years, and never really had any problems- I would not waste any money on this product!

I don't use Tide at all, in any form. I have always had some sort of allergy to it--it makes me break out in huge hives. I think it is really nasty stuff.

I do notice that it costs much more than other detergents. I am pretty sure that there is nothing special at all about this detergent to justify the cost. I have a friend that uses it (regular Tide)and her clothes don't look any different than anyone elses.

Cold Water Tide is just a blatant rip-off IMHO. Are there really people out there that are that dumb? *don't answer that, lol*

I have to be careful about detergents though. The really cheap ones make me itch. Not the HUGE hives that I get with Tide, but reddish, itchy skin. It happens with Purex, Sun, and Arm & Hammer that I know of so far. I just use MelaPower and avoid the whole problem. If by chance I do buy detergent at the store, I buy All.

Sara, you should e-mail this thread to P & G as a focus group response. I'm sure they wouldn't mind a few honest, well thought out responses. I used the CW Tide only because it was free. I would not buy it otherwise as the price is simply too high - as are all the Tide varieties.

I do love Tide but I agree that the new CW Tide is a huge gimmick. I am sure they are counting on the segment of the population that spends with abandon and never really thinks about what they are buying, if it says new and improved they will purchase it. I have used regular Tide with cold water for years and never had a problem with it. I imagine that it is regular Tide in a new bottle. The same trick that Tylenol and other pain relievers use when they put out "Tylenol Arthritis", "Tylenol Migraine" "Motrin for headaches" ect...., they are all the same exact formula as the regular product but marketed in a different bottle with a different name for more money.

I use regular Tide and have always been pleased. I also used my free sample and saw no difference except for the strong smell ane higher price I have considered using a less expensive detergent but hate to spend the money and not like it. I agree that the cw stuff is nothing more than a way to get gullable people to spend more money

    I agree,a gimmick!!

I used the sample and didn't notice any difference at all...not even a stronger smell lol

Our Wal-Mart has the 80 or 100 oz for $4.50...I read on another board WM had these on clearance. If it gets really cheap,I'll buy tons lol

I use Tide since my BF likes it, he breaks out if I use something different (or so he says )

I didn't notice a stronger smell at all. It did say it was one loads' worth, but I used only half to stretch it to two loads.

My final consensus: I like it, if it costs the same as regular tide I will buy it.

I used it on really dirty camping clothes (I wanted to see if it REALLY got things clean). The verdict? The Sun powder I use does just as good a job at a MUCH lower price.

I never thought to buy it or even request a sample. It does seem like a gimmick to me and I'm glad to read your posts on this. I won't waste my money.
