    Default Air Purifier

Does anyone here have one? If so I have a few questions.

    What brand/model/type?
    Why did you get it?
Did it live up to your expectation?
    Do you still use it?
    How effective is it?
    Anything else I should know?

I need one. Dh funks up his little area with his smoking, and more and more it bothers me. Most of the time, i'd say 95% of the time, he smokes outside. But that other 5% really stinks and short of using a carpet/upholstery cleaner every day...i don't know how to cut the irritation.

Plus the allergens from the pollens, pet dander, bird fluff...etc

So I am hoping someone her has had good luck with one and would be willing to tell me a litlte about theirs

We have two Orecks. They are the new model. I can't remember what they are 8000 or something like that. I love them. They work great. I have not smoked in my home with them, but I have a friend that did and has one and it worked great. They are rather expensive though. They cost almost $600. They were running a buy one get one half off. I would highly recomend them. Mine run 24/7. Plus we have two dogs and a cat, and it helps take away the pet smell in the house.

i have the tower one from walmart. (i forgot the name of it!) it was less expensive then the orecks i saw and was very tempted to buy ($149) but i love it. it does real well. it has the filter that you clean as opposed to replacement filters.

how well does it work as far as catching pet fluff? (if i remember you have a cat??)

I am definitely leaning towards one with a cleanable filter rather than one i have to replace.

well i dont sneeze NEARLY as much as i use to. i use to have to take 2 allergy shots a week or i couldn't function. i've been incredibly pleased with it, it seems to take care of everything pretty well.

How about dust? I can literally see the dust floating through the air when the sun comes in the windows. I hate it! How do these models do with dust (either the Oreck or the one purchased from WalMart). Thank you.

I would have to say that the oreck does really well with dust. I notice less dust then we use to get. Now we still do get dust, but not nearly as quickly as we use to. The Orecks also do not have a filter that you have to change. It comes with a charcoal filter that you can use which helps with the smell, but they are good for a really long time. You really don't have to even use them if you don't want to. All you do is pop out the plate that collects the dirt, and wash it with soapy water. Let it completly dry and pop it back it. They say to clean it once a month. I tend to do it more since we have two dogs and a cat.

it does well with dust too. everytime i go to clean it, the filter is just caked with it, so it must be doing something right.

Thank you both. Hmmm, now which to try. LOL I would pay just about anything to get rid of some of this dust. I am a clean freak, so it drives me insane. I dust the living room every single day. Thanks again ladies!

I have the Ionic Breeze and I lurve that thing! We have much less dust and I can see it works on mold when I clean it. It runs 24/7, is quiet, helps with allergies, keeps the house smelling really good but not chemical-ly. I'm thinking of getting another one b/c this one isn't big enough for the whole house. I got my dk's one for Christmas and save some big bucks getting some of them off of ebay for $85. I paid $149 for the ones that I bought at Penney's. I highly recommend the Ionic Breeze.

My bf's bro and wife have this in their kitchen:

    http://www.trueair.com/odor_eliminators/04271r.html

Its made by Hamilton Beach and I've not seen it sold as widely here in Canada but the website does list places you can purchase them I believe. Its better for a smaller area or just one room.

She only lets hubby smoke in the kitchen AND if he stands RIGHT beside it For the most part if you do smoke close to it it doesnt let the smoke roam an flow through the house. I think I'd reccomend it for pets/dust on a daily basis vs smoking. Kick them outside dang it! LOL
