    Default My FAB retail day!

First I went to Joanns Crafts for some cheese cloth for a project at work. Super long lines, lots of sales and coupons, but I'm staying focused. I find a box with 80 yds of 36 inch cheesecloth. Figuring they are supposed to open the case and cut it to yard I took it to the front register just to get a price. The little girl behind the register comes back with $2.80! Then adds, "That's a really good price isn't it?" I agree, hand her a 40% off coupon (I always push my luck)and walk out of the store paying less than $2 for it. Checked the web site, the 18 inch width is $50 for the box!
Then I went to Lord and Taylor. I had received a $50 gc in the mail (they sent lots of them out around here). I found a beautiful Ralph Lauren necklace, regularly $72, 20% off left me paying just over $8!
Yeah! I haven't had a day like this in a long time! --Kellie

You know, I'd feel guilty about that cheesecloth. I think 2.80 was the per/yd price. I don't know, I'd have to take it back, I think. My conscience would just kill me if I kept it.

Plus, that goes into the "loss" column, and makes everybody else's prices go up. Not criticizing, just saying I would have pursued it further, because I would have known that was wrong.

I'd take the cheese cloth back. That's just me. I'd feel guilty.

Me too, though I might suggest to the manager that such honesty would appropriately deserve SOME kind of reward - like a GC or a discount.

Yeah, definitely deserves something for honesty, although the manager might think it odd, since she DID walk out with it knowing it was probably wrong.

You know Kellie, I buy most of my jewelry like that. I love Beall's 80% off sales. I sometimes will have a 25% off coupon for anything even clearance and can get nice pieces for almost nothing.

Yeah, but $2.80 marked down from $50 is a 99.24% markdown. No way is that gonna happen. My thinking is that it was either supposed to be $2.80 a yard, or $28.00.

As for the other thing, that was a great deal!

Awesome job on the sales! If a store wants to sell me that much cheesecloth for that price, I'll take it and not argue.

I actually donated it to my agency with the handicapped, so it went to a non profit, I have no use for cheesecloth, no guilty feelings here.

Strange, you said in your original message that you needed it for a project at work. And no matter what you did with it, you STOLE it from the store. Taking something you didn't pay for, when you KNEW it was wrong, is THEFT.

I won't say what I'm thinking about Jersey attitudes....

I believe Kellie works for a non-profit agency, so yes, it was a project for work.

I don't think you need to imply that she's lying, nor do I think you need to bash her throughout this thread. And to lump all people from NJ into the same lot just because you don't agree with what she did?
