Default CVS Deal - Paper Towels, Dish Detergent and Excedrin

I am by no means an expert. If you have worked out a better deal, please share it as I am constantly on the hunt for bigger and better deals.

One thing that I have learned is to not go after every single sale. You'll drive yourself crazy and its not worth it. All coupons used in my transaction today are from this Sunday's P&G insert.

    What I bought today:

Dawn dish soap - on sale 99cents
    Excedrin 100ct - on sale $5.99
Basic paper towels 8ct - on sale $4.99

I always use a list and stick to it. If I buy one thing off my list, it throws off my totals and my savings go out the window. I plan my whole transaction out before I leave the house and have coupons in hand, ready to go.

    Coupons I used:

Dawn Buy 2 Get $1 off
    Excedrin $3 off any 100ct
Basic paper towels 25cents off any

    Before Coupons

    Excedrin $5.99
    Excedrin $5.99
    Dawn .99
    Dawn .99
    Dawn .99
    Dawn .99
    Dawn .99
    Dawn .99
    Basic $4.99
    total - $22.91

If you go on CVS' website and register your store card, you get an email with a printable coupon that saves you $4 off any purchase over $20. On a monthly basis, I get emailed coupons from CVS for $2 off any $10 purchase, or $4 off any $20. Sometimes, they send out bigger ones like $10 off a $50 and so on... btw, I have NEVER had a problem using my CVS email printed coupons.

    (MFC stands for manufacturers coupon)

    $22.91
    - $4 off $20 purchase printable
    - $2 off $10 purchase printable

    $16.91
    - Excedrin $3 MFC
    - Excedrin $3 MFC
    - Dawn B2 Get $1 off
    - Dawn B2 Get $1 off
    - Dawn B2 Get $1 off
    - Basic 25cents off any MFC
    $7.66

Now, once you've shopped a few weeks or so, the register will spit out extra coupons along with your receipt. I had a $3 off $15 purchase one that I used, bringing my total down another $3 to $4.66

This is all assuming that youre not using any ECBs

ECBs are Extra Care Bucks. Its CVS money you can use towards your purchase. Let me think of an example. Last month they offered their store brand cough drops for 99cents and an ECB for 99 cents, making the cough drops free. You pay the 99cents at the register and along with your receipt you get an ECB for 99cents right then and there. You can use these like cash towards any non-rx purchase (I think, help me if I'm wrong here CVS-ers).

I went into all this deal for people who are new to couponing and CVS in general, sorry so long!

The Dawn came out costing about 50cents when you dont factor the $2/$10 and $4/$20 coupons. Last week @ CVS I was able to get Palmolive for 9cents a bottle. These deals come around very often so if you miss one, don't freak out. It'll be back.

Andrea, you did awesome!! You also did a great job of explaining how you got the deal. It really helps others see what they need to do to get the same deals as you.

My CVS doesn't allow stacking of CVS coupons unless the total originally came to the total of the two larger amounts. I would need a $30 transaction to use a $4/$20 and a $2/$10. That is cool that yours does though

WOW thanks so much for posting this. After reading it, I took a look at the CVS ad and stopped there today.
I did not do as great as you but am still very pleased! I ended up with the following:

    2 Dawn dish detergents
    1 bounty paper towels
    1 Mayblenne mascaras
    1 Afrin nasal spray

I ended up stocking up on 75% off x-mas stuff today at CVS. For an original price of $38. I ended up paying $8.05 with the 75% off and the $2 off $10 purchase. So now I have votives, two stockings, gift cards, ornament hangers, and 4 packages of cards for next x-mas.

Glad I went today because there were other people there doing the same thing. : )

nice job!! i am going to try to make this a weekly thing. i know that there are a few other FV-ers that frequent walgreens and cvs quite a bit so with a little combined effort, we'll scout out some real nice deals.
