    Default Groceries - Spent $8.47, saved $267.04!

I had posted about a great Kroger trip I made last week, well actually I have made several similar trips during their MEGA sale event. The deal is you get $5 off your total when you purchase 10 qualifying items. You can do the deal up to three times per transaction, for $15 off. What make this even better, is you can use coupons for many of the qualifying items, and they double the coupons! A couple of coupon items even result in overage, like French's mustard. With a .50/1 coupon doubled, you make .50 PROFIT for each mustard you purchase. I made four trips to Dillon's today (I live right next door), doing three of the "buy 10/save $5" deals each time. I also purchased things not included in the promotion, like milk, cottage cheese, etc.

When the day was done, I had purchased 131 items, spending a TOTAL of $8.47 ($7.81 of that was sales tax!) My savings with coupons/store card/buy-10-save-$5 was $267.04. Here is my list:

    (1) gallon of 1/2% low-fat milk
    (1) navel orange
    (1) bunch of bananas (four)
    (1) 24 oz. low-fat cottage cheese
    (2) 8 oz. Kraft shredded cheese
    (1) 12 oz. Kraft American Singles
    (2) 32 oz. Dannon Yogurt
    (4) 4 ct. Pillsbury Crescent rolls
    (1) 48 oz. Crisco Canola oil
    (2) 12 oz. Herbal Essences shampoo/conditioner
    (3) Brut deodorant
    (1) 40 ct. Kroger fabric softener sheets
    (5) 24.5 oz. jars Dole fruit
    (1) 18 oz. Peter Pan peanut butter
    (3) bags Pepperidge Farm Goldfish crackers
    (1) Pepperidge Farm Sausalito cookies (coupon for free cookies when you buy three goldfish)
    (7) Betty Crocker Box Muffin mix
    (17) 5 ct. Pillsbury Cinnamon rolls
    (20) Betty Crocked cookie mix
    (57) French's mustard

Yes, that is a lot of mustard. I am selling 50 of the mustard for $10 to a friend who owns a restaurant.

It was great to meet you too, Traci! I am really running out of room to put stuff, and I have WAY too much cookie mix! It is hard to not bring it home when it is free! My new pantry is full already. I will be kind of glad when the sale is over, too. It is just too hard to stay away from Dillon's when the deals are this good.

That is awesome! And to think some people laugh at me for having 10 bottles of mustard. I know what you mean about not being able to stay away. When its free or you can make money you cant help but want to go back again and again.

I think it's great that you ladies found such a great sale . We don't have grocery deals like that around here, places will only double coupon up to 99 cents and that rarely results in any kind of an overage, because the sales are not that good (better than regular prices, but only by maybe 25-50 cents). Some stores have buy one get one free, but it's for items we don't eat: chips, baked goods, etc... and you end up paying $4 - $5 for the buy one get one free and then it doesn't really feel like a sale.
