Question How much do you normally spend on Easter?

Do you spend a lot on Easter candy?

We usually spend around $10. I watch for the candy to go on sale about a week before Easter.

How about you?

Probably between 10 and fifteen dollars. I now buy as close to Easter as possible because they seem to "disappear" if I buy them too early!

I bought a Longaberger candy mold 'years' ago. It has a mommy and baby bunny.

Now I buy chocolate at Christmas time, melt it down and make my own chocolates for the kids baskets.

I spend a bit more than most at Easter though-- as I generally get the kids a book, a DVD, and a CD in their baskets-- they are all teens now.

We used to spend $25 or more on chocolate, but in the last fewe years I have reduced it quite a bit.

This year it's costing me something like $2 or $3. I'm doing like Sunshine. I bought Christmas chocolate Santas and I am melting it down to to make egg shape chocolates.

I don't like the commercialisation of easter. I bought one son an easter egg, nothing for everyone else. dh can't eat chocolate since his stroke and my other son doesn't eat chocolate anymore.

I'm not sure how much we spent this year as we were able to afford to spend a little more than usual. I'd say I usually spend around $10-15--this year may have been around $20 because I got them each a couple of small toys too.

Normally, we don't spend much on Easter. It's typically a family day spent together. We usually rent a movie to watch as a family and have a nice meal. We do an egg hunt and I buy some candy/small toys for their baskets and for in their plastic eggs for the hunt.

This year, we're doing a treasure hunt. Gabe is making a map. I have a wooden treasure box and will be using that in place of the usual basket I usually do up. We're doing two special "golden eggs" for the hunt too.

Instead of renting a movie, I did splurge and buy Brother Bear on dvd for us all to watch instead, so that made the cost of goodies a little higher than usual. I also bought dye for the eggs. (no dye here in the house) We didn't dye eggs last year, but are going to this year. I bought much less candy because the kids aren't crazy about candies and I don't want it in the house left for me to gobble up. lol

I'd say I spent about $40 for all of us, but much less if just counting candy alone. Not including the meal too. We're not doing the typical ham either. lol None of us are fond of ham.

not much, mainly just the cost for food to bring to my mom's. This year that's going to be around 6$ for pie, juice and soda. Oh, but the gas to get there and back will be a lot Probably 10$

My MIL gives us a lot of the 'goodies' for easter. Chocolates, decorations, videos, you name it

I splurged this year. I found big sand pails and shovels for $.99 so each will get that instead of a basket, filled with a summer outfit and new socks and underwear , a plastic character cup, a little soft chennille rabbit (.99 each), a $5 Barbie for Giselle, 3 matchbox for Jimmy, Tyler is getting art supplies, Yami, a baby doll, I bought Cat in the Hat DVD for all to share, DH gets the new Matrix DVD and $1.75 in chocolates. I have egg dye and I bought lights and giant plastic eggs for the porch tree last year for almost nothing, and the food I'm making to take to moms, a giant long process to make, but only about $5 in cost. Total cost is about $75, but all useful stuff, most of it I would have bought anyway.

Let's see--I bought Audrey a beach towel ($6) and rubber swimming pants ($6) and some bath/pool toys $4. Her basket was one I've had for years. Oh, I also got plastic eggs for $0.67

A few weeks ago I got a huge bag of Easter candy for my desk at work for $9.99, but my boss gave me $5 when he saw what I did!

I'm going to TRY not to go overboard with gifts on holidays. If I start now while Audrey is a baby, she won't expect a whole lot each time. (I hope)

Too much....

justification...
Every Easter the kids each get a DVD, a significant oral hygiene package, a swimsuit, sunscreen, and their favorite SPF-azillion lip protection for the pool....

Candy-wise, we spend probably $10, but everything else included it comes out to about $25 per child........
