Question Do you use videos or the computer as part of your school day?

I use videos for ds#2, but seldom do we use the computer for schooling. I love teaching the good old fashioned way, with books and lots of questions.

    How about you?

We use videos from A Beka as part of dd's correspondence classes. I taught her the first year using the A Beka curriculum and their books, we've found the videos much better for us.

I allowed '16' to decide if he wanted to keep the curriculum he was already in or to change to Bob Jones or A Beka, etc.

He chose the Accelerated Christian Education because he could work at his pace, he wouldn't have to wait for me to explain things that he could get on his own, and although it isn't glitzy, it really works for us. ACE has the videos, but we don't use them, he gets it by reading.

When we returned from Maryland in March (2+ yrs ago) , I did buy the Switched on Schoolhouse to finish up the 7th grade that was computer based and the records were kept right n the computer.

I think those unit studies i the morning, then the basics in the afternoon would be so fun, but they required a LOT of work.

We have educational computer games and videos, but they are not a part of their "school" work. I prefer the old fashioned method, too.

We also have *educational* computer games and videos, but they are for fun only.
