Question Is music a part of your homeschooling day?

Dd does music every day and loves it. I'm not musical but both her and ds#2 are so its a major part in our homeschool.

    How about you?

Are you talking about music appreciation or practice?

7yodd is slowly learning to play the piano (homeschooling this too!) I took lessons for many many years, so I'm teaching her the basics. 4yodd is following along as always! We have a guitar that I am re-learning to play, and 7yodd is interested also. We have other instruments on hand (in other words - noisy things - maracas, recorders, tamborine, harmonica, etc) that the girls like to play with. And my old flute, too.

We listen to music everyday. A lot of classical (Classical Kids series is great), also Christian (Praise and Worship, and kids songs). We read books about classical composers. I try to follow a Charlotte Mason-type of lesson here - listen a lot to one composer, read a simple biography (Mike Venezia has good short ones - Opal Wheeler wrote some longer ones that are just excellet, but OOP). Costco is a good place to pick up inexpensive classical CD's.

7yodd likes to sing, and might be joining a children's choir soon. I guess we are a musical family! I think we have a radio, cassette, or CD player in each room!

My sons all take piano lessons from a wonderful and very talented teacher who also happens to be a friend of mine. They have been teaching themselves guitar and drums. They and some friends of theirs have started a band (they actually sound great!) with 2 of my boys singing vocals along with a female friend and my other son plays the drums (he learned how 2 weeks ago, just show him how to do it and he does, simply amazing kid). We listen to praise and worship music along with contemporary Christian music, classical, jazz, easy listening and some country.
All of us here love to sing and the boys and I have been involved in choirs and musicals.

    Blessings,

Ds isn't involved in any formal lessons yet since I think he's still too young, but we include music/singing in our homeschooling day always.

Dd takes both piano lessons and saxaphone.
We listen to music in some form daily.
Ds loves Veggie Tunes and John Lithgow. My gift for all new babies or 1st birthdays is John Lithgow's Singing in the Bathtub!
