Let's check in now - halfway through our homeschool year.....
Even if you don't keep to a traditional school calendar, I'd love to hear what is working (or not working) in your homeschool.
We made a shift with our Bible devotional materials at the first of this month. I was using my old Little Visits with God book, but it just wasn't clicking with dd#1. We switched to Leading Little Ones to God and it is going better.
We just starting using Story of the World for history, and it is excellent! I would highly recommend this to any elementary-level homeschoolers, even if you are not following the classical method (book is authored by Well-Trained Mind author).
I started out the year trying to do specific units for science, art, and music appreciation. Now I have simplified things quite a bit. We found that we needed to focus more on phonics and math. We still "do" science, art, and music, but it is a more free-flowing, seize the moment type of thing.
Everything this else is going well.

I am tired of doing unit studies and I think ds is as well. We'll be rowing Goodnight Moon (B4FIAR) and then doing a unit based on Clifford the Big Red Dog (which I know ds will love) and then we'll just start doing a variety of things each day (I will make sure that each subject is adequately covered).
