Default Do you belong to a HS support group?

I was just wondering if anyone belongs to local support groups for homeschool. I've debated a couple years about joining the one here and finally emailed for the info on the group. We are definitely going to join because it sounds like a great group of HS families and they have some great activities, also important for us is it's a Christian-based group. I found out that there are about 180 HS families that belong to our local group and there are at least 120 teens in the group which will be great for dd to hopefully make some new friends. And I think it will be great for dh and I to make friends with other HS adults, maybe we won't feel so "alone" anymore.

Do you have HS support groups in your area?

Hi Dana,
I'm the head of our HS support group that covers 2 small towns in our area. I joined it 6 years ago when we just started out homeschooling and was so blessed by the friendships, support and advice that I got there. Some of my children's closest friends are homeschoolers in our group and the guardians of our children (if something should happen to DH and I) are another family from this group.
Last year our support group started a HS co-op for teaching various classes and it worked out so well that we are continueing it this year. Last year we covered drama, chorus, anatomy and fitness and problem solving. This year we are doing drama (again), logic, knitting and crafts and creation.
I'd be lost without my group and so would my kids. We just had a few more families join us this year and it's been great getting to know them and help them get started down this wonderful road of homeschooling!

I am joining one this year with Dylan. The first meeting is next Tuesday evening. It sounds the same as yours Debbie. The subject days/courses are called Blessing Days and each parent must help with something if your child is participating. The nice thing is that you can do all of them or none. There are monthly meetings for the parents, field trips and sports (hockey, basketball etc.) Looking forward to it.

I haven't joined one yet because I've not found one yet that meets my needs.
