Teaching the kids typing - what a hoot!!
I decided to give the kids the gift of typing this year. Its something that once they have, they'll be able to use for a lifetime. But what a hoot teaching them.
It takes a lot of patience because I'd rather be doing the typing (my favorite subject in school) and its slow going. Dd picked up on it really quickly, but ds#1 just kept going UGH!!!! He likes to do things his way but you just can't do that in typing.
Have you taught your kids typing or even how to use a calculator without looking at the numbers and where to place your fingers properly?

My kids can type like pros & learned in school. I just can't . The fingers and the brain don't go work together like they need to unless I look at the keys.
I just don't think I am wired to do it.
My kids are always making fun of me. I can use more than one finger
and my typing is getting faster.

Mavis! Mavis! Mavis! lol We used to use the typing tutor just for fun here.
I can type fast, but not with the best accuracy. I haven't taught Zachary to type and because I don't type properly...I don't think I should be the one to teach him.
I'd let him play with Mavis though. If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. My kids all learned in school too. I would have loved to have taught them but they learned before we had a computer or typewriter at home, DS was a 2000 graduate and he started using the computer and learning to type in Kindegarten.
It sounds like a fun course to teach your kids. Have fun and enjoy this time.
