Why did you decide to homeschool?

Wondering what the reasons are for each of the homeschoolers. Did you feel you could do a better job than the school system in your area? Will you homeschool every year?

The main reason that I started hs was because the public school would not give us a full time aid for ds#1. They were planning on giving us an aid for 4 special needs kids in a classroom of 25. Had ds#1 gone to public school with that, he would have fallen through the cracks, no ifs, ands or buts about it.

Now I hs because I love it, its has brought our family closer together and I don't have to worry about what the kids are being taught and I feel very strongly its what God has called me to continue to do.

I will hs them until they are finished school (Gr. 12).

I am concidering it for lots of reasons. Our school district is in a very low percentile on test scoring. The classes are over crowded, the teachers over worked. The schools are stressed. And the City and county govt here isn't releasing any more aid to the schools, at least not within the forseeable future. We can't afford private school, or toutoring. I didn't know what to do, so I was looking into options, and found this. we are pretty sure we are going to do it. I think it is a fantastic option for us. Even if the schools here get the aid they need to provide better education to the children, I think i will still homeschool.
