best toys you bought your kids
or made for your kids? (besides crayons and arts and crafts)
Here there are few toys that are huge hits.
I think one of the best was an electronic keyboard. Both the children play with it daily.
Matchbox cars are a huge hit with Zachary.
Dollpins and the plastic folgers container are a big hit with the baby and Zachary even plays with them too.
Of course, books are about the absolute best too.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. Books of course are the best. Next to books, K'Nex's and Leggos. They still play with them and for Michael, an electronic keyboard.

Well, although my kids are older I can look back and honestly say that for DS (almost 21 now) it was first his wooden blocks, pine in all different shapes and sizes. We still have them in the cedar chest and I hope to use them for grandchildren one day. Then lego. Huge hit with him! Tinker toys were a big hit too. So to generalize for him, it would be anything you could build with.
For DD it was her baby dolls when she was little ... lots of homemade clothing and blankets, etc. baby bottles, and other accessories. She treated them like they were her babies and got so much enjoyment from them. Also a cash register... she graduated from a play one to a real one and it was money well spent. (still is for math)
Then there's board games, chess, scategories, scrabble, monopoly, etc. etc. etc. You can never have enough board games in my books.
I agree, books are a given.

For both kids - Duplos. Dd still plays with them at times and she turned 7 in August. Ds (4 in Dec.) plays with them almost daily. We have legos, too, but they still prefer the duplos.
Dominos
Almost any card game
Wooden train set (generic Brio) - again, both kids will play with this!
Worst investment for dd - Barbies

We bought this fisher-price play video camera for Brandi when she was 3 and all of the kids have loved that thing. Other than that of course books and legos but also a disney radio and the magna doodle. The disney radio is like the hit clips it has these little cartridges you put in to play the music.
