Talking Whose idea was it to hs?

Was it your idea or someone elses and how long did you have the idea before you actually did it?

Well for us, the decision came after moving here almost 2 years ago. Mickie went into 5th grade here and just fell behind. She went from be an A Honor Roll student to failing. They have a high teacher turnover here in this county, and Mickie had six different teachers in that one year. We felt we had to do what was best for Mickie, and I feel with my whole heart that we made the right decision. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

I think it was something that was coming for quite awhile. I had been talking to my husband about it and we had prayed about it. One night at dinner after yet another horrible day at school for our kids my husband looked across the table at me and said "that's it, we are bringing them home!". I was both thrilled and terrified at the prospect at the same time. We did have them finish out the last 6 weeks of the school year but I did take the kids out one day and take them to a homeschool convention where they helped me pick out the materials that we would use our first year. Oh, and I resigned as a substitute teacher at the school to which the principal said "What message are YOU sending the community when you, our best sub, decides to quite subbing and homeschool her kids?". Ummmmm...that something is very wrong with our school district?????

It was hearing the next-door neighbor, age 5, with all her popular culture ideas. She was teaching my kids Brittany Spears lyrics. at age FIVE!

I got almost the same response from the school board here when I went in to register Mickie for home school, and my response was pretty much the same. I can't tell you how many of Mickie's sub's from last year have approached me wanting info on homeschooling. So many people want to homeschool, but they are either afraid or they just don't know how to get started.
