well my two homeschoolers both graduated with BSc. degrees!
On June the 9th. Both of them. My son in computer science with a Business minor and my daughter in Biology emphasis on molecular biology and genetics.
It was a happy moment for this homeschooling mum I tell you! They are fully launched.
There were times when I began homeschooling when people would ask me how they'd ever be accepted into college let alone university.
When I tossed the textbooks and did an unschooling unit study approach, I wondered whether this would affect them negatively in my private moments of worry. Every hs mum has those moments.
Now looking at them, all that is in the past, and it was the right road for us to take.
The freedom of homeschooling and the do it yourself curriculum contributed to their ability to question the status quo, to teach themselves necessary things, work productively under time constraints, meet deadlines and handle a wide variety of instructors and fellow students.
It was especially good as my dd was one of a select few bachelor program students selected to go and present her work at the Canadian Association of Microbiologists in Halifax. Most of the students there were Masters and Doctorates.
She has been working in directed studies with her instructor on antibiotic resistant bacteria and some cave fungus that they've just found in some deep caves here in BC. She is trying to get a new angle for others to follow up on developing new antibiotics for the Methicillin Resistant Staphlococcus Aureus. MRSA for short.
No there isn't a new antibiotic, at least not yet, but there is some promising stuff happening and it's been great for her to be a part of that.
Her instructor says one of her strengths is her ability to look at things in new ways, taking an overlooked approach, asking unexpected questions.
And my son, he caught a serious error in the accounting textbook which will be corrected in the new edition and the computer program he developed with his team is being used as a sample of the kind of work the fourth year students are expected to develop.
I tend to think that just might be because that was how we approached science with both the kids.
Whether it is or not, it's sure good to see them growing and branching off and out on their own, as life long learners and interesting people.
And hopefully this is a boost for all the rest of you up and coming homeschoolers.

Congrats! They sound like they are doing great.
Being at the forefront of MRSA-effective antibiotics is a HUGE deal. We see so much MRSA in healthcare it isn't even funny. And catching a mistake in a textbook- well, they should pay him!
Good work!

Congrats! This is inspirational (I encounter too many naysayers when my husband and I discuss our idea to homeschool our children (when we get around to having some)).
Good luck to you and your DS and DD.
