Homeschool advice needed for Pre-K
My ds will be 5 in September, but will be home with me. What do I need to make sure he knows for Kindergarten? I know of the basic ABC's, counting and body parts, but beyond that, I am clueless.
Can you recommend any books or websites that may help me? TIA.

If you plan on sending him to school at some point and know where you will be sending him, call them up and ask them what they expect. They should be able to give you a list. You may have to talk to a teacher to find out.
One thing my son was supposed to know for K that you didn't list was being able to write his name.

this is what DS1 had to do last year to pass kindergarden through the homeschool program we use
his name, address, abc's, phonics (sounds those letters make and some combination letter sounds, like th, wh, etc), recalling ability (telling him a story and his ability to remember info from it), basic math skills- counting, adding, subtracting, grouping, tallying, and so on. Life skills such as finding items on a simple map. (Very much like Dora the Explorer simple...hard to explain. there would be a house on the map with a path that got him there, he'd have to explain what he had to pass in order to get to the house. ) Citizenship skills, like being able to clean up after himself and helping others around him. Health knowledge, like washing hands helps prevent getting sick, etc. Um...trying to remember what else. This was based on a program our state does that integrates the K12 curriculium ( www.k12.com or org i am not sure which)~~ Missy ~~

OK the next is a good homeschool resource I've recommended many times over the years.
Slow and Steady Get Me Ready: A Parents' Handbook for Children from Birth to Age 5 by June R. Oberlander
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0962232211/qid=1122319227/sr=2-2/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_2/104-6161399-9660758"]Amazon.com: Slow and Steady Get Me Ready: A Parents' Handbook for Children from Birth to Age 5 (9780962232213): June R. Oberlander: Books[/ame]
and the updated version here [ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/159160236X/qid=1122319227/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/104-6161399-9660758"]Amazon.com: Slow and Steady Get Me Ready (9781591602361): June Oberlander: Books[/ame]
It's all about getting them ready thru the years birth to five whether for homeschooling or for public/private school. Good readiness.
and
and the one you probably want to start with is Early Education at Home: A Curriculum Guide for Parents of Preschoolers and Kindergartners
by M. Jean Soyke
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1884098150/qid=1122319834/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-6161399-9660758?v=glance&s=books"]Amazon.com: Early Education at Home: A Curriculum Guide for Parents of Preschoolers and Kindergartners (9781884098154): Jean M. Soyke: Books[/ame]
I HIGHLY recommend Ruth Beechick's books for homeschooling AND FOR NON HOMESCHOOLING parents. If you help with homework, or plan to teach it all, these are worth their weight in gold.
Ruth Beechick's 3 R's (teaching K thru grade 3 at home with this and a library card)

and her Language and Thinking (this is her readiness/K book that is wonderfully laid back but shows you how to cover the essentials)
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0880621524/qid=1122319925/sr=8-4/ref=pd_bbs_4/104-6161399-9660758?v=glance&s=books&n=507846"]Amazon.com: Language and Thinking for Young Children (9780880621526): Ruth Beechick: Books[/ame]
and for later whether you homeschool or not You Can Teach Your Child Successfully: Grades 4-8 this one is a must if you are helping an older child master their homework or if you are teaching them at home. Either way it's jammed with helpful advice, good what to teach when stuff and more.
